Did you know that the GREAT WHITE SHARK, a top apex predator, is not really on the top of ocean food chain🤔🦈? Killer whales 🐬 are known to hunt and kill Great White sharks!!! How crazy is that 🤔...#greatwhiteshark
Can you count how many HAMMERHEAD SHARKS are there in our #shark
animation🦈🦈🦈? Do you know of a good place in the world to see so many of them while scuba diving🤔?
Aren't MANTA RAYS the most mesmerizing ocean creatures? Our animation will hopefully wow you and make you want to be in this diver's place! Who wouldn't want to be 😀😁😎. #manta
Our deep sea ghost wishes #happyhalloween
to everyone😀👻! Do you know what kind of actual creature this is🤔? It lives in the deepest and darkest parts of the ocean, only seldom found by scientific exploration submarines. To us it looks both cute and ghostly, perfect for Halloween 😀😨👻. Have fun.
Who doesn't like these cute flightless marine birds 🐧? Like all other penguins GENTOO PENGUINS probably also dream of being able to fly 😉 yet nature gave them a different amazing skill which is swimming in the ocean at great speeds even more than 30km/h or 22mph! This is badly needed to be able to avoid their skillful predators like orcas, leopard seals and sea lions. While they live in the frozen Antarctic their breeding colonies are located in ice free sub-Antarctic islands. #birds
All parents should know what it means 😉😁. And like all good parents EMPEROR PENGUINS take very good care of their young and both the male and the female take turns to leave the colony to forage for food and collect it to feed their chicks and they can travel hundreds of kilometers to the ocean and back in order to do so. These penguins are also the tallest and heaviest of all penguins and they are endemic to Antarctica.🐧🐧. #penguins
Do you know the name of the only penguin spevies that lives north of the equator🤔🐧? They are also the second smallest penguin out there and hunt mainly small schooling fish like sardines. Residents of certain famous islands on the Pacific Ocean where they get their name from. What could it be🐧🤔? #penguinbooks
Check this CHINSTRAP PENGUIN from our ongoing 🐧 series😀. It looks like its wearing a black helmet😉! This medium size marine bird lives in the most southern parts of the planet and thanks to the strong contrast of its plumage is very well camouflaged from predators both in water and on land, a techniqur which is called counter-illumination! #penguins
Say hi to this two cute HUMBOLDT PENGUINS🐧🐧❤. They come from South America, where they breed in coastal Chile and Peru but they also have relatives all over the world even in Africa and the Galapagos! A medium sized penguin that lives on the islands and rocky shores of the Pacific Ocean sometimes burrowing holes in guano...It is also a threatened species with only a dozen thousand or so estimated population which is a drop in the ocean compared to some other massive colonies of penguins in Antarctica. 🐧🐧🐧. #penguins
Dude! How cool is this MACARONI PENGUIN😎😁🐧? Sporting a funky, old school, surfer-style, yellow hairdo, called a CREST, these not-so-big penguins are the most numerous species of this flightless marine bird. Their massive colonies can be found in the Antarctic but they have been seen migrating all the way to the middle of the Indian Ocean after breeding in the cold of the southern oceans. We are officialy starting a short series of different penguins so stay tuned for more of these coolest birds😃🐧🐧🐧. #penguins
Coolest seahorse with a coolest idiom😁. Do you know this species and the meaning🤔? Inspired by our recent two posts with interesting creatures from the pipefish family we have come up with this punk rock style seahorse😎 (do check our last posts for awesome colors!). This particular seahorse is of the European kind, native to the Atlantic Ocean and often spotted in the Mediterranean Sea eg. Italy. Some can grow quite a spectacular "mane" but it is not hair but skin protrusions - a way to blend in the surrounding environment, as camouflage. #seahorse
Wow. Are there dragons in the sea 😨? Not really, this astonishing creature is as close as it gets - a LEAFY SEADRAGON. A close relative to seahorses and pipefish, this weird animal is not bigger than 25 cm so a far cry from a real dragon yet it does look like a creature from a fairy tale. Its leaf- like protrusions coming from all over the body are not fins but give it appearance of floating seaweed. In the ocean environment it lives in this is a perfect camouflage. Found only in the shallows of southern and western Australia, best place being Adelaide 😊 #dragon
Have you ever seen an animal as weird as this ORNATE GHOST PIPEFISH a.k.a. harlequin pipefish 🤔🤔🤔? A relative of seahorses this crazy looking, tiny fish, not bigger than 10 cm, is so well camouflaged against certain corals that it gives a headache to find to many avid scuba divers wishing to see it up-close. Often swims head down, hunting for tiny creatures on the bottom. Ocean world has truly amazing creatures living in it🙄. Lives on tropical coral reefs of Western Pacific and the Indian Ocean. #oceananimals
Who can help with an idiom expression for this amazing THRESHER SHARK 🦈😉? Notice its very long tail? It makes up close to half of total body length of this solitary and pelagic shark, which lives in the open ocean, only periodically visting coastal reefs like the famous Malapascua Island in the Philippines, where you can dive with them. They use their long tail to herd and stun schooling fish by slapping it like a whip. Pretty crazy hunting technique for a shark if you ask me 😎. #sharks
This turtle eats something else than all other turtles, do you know what🤔? Distinguished from other sea turtles by its curved beak and saw-like appearance of its shell margins this HAWKSBILL TURTLE is officially critically endangered, which you can imagine is quite bad😐. Yet there are some stable populations of this turtle and its possible to see it on tropical coral reefs of most seas especially west Indian Ocean. #turtle
Have you ever seen a fish without its main body? This OCEANIC SUNFISH is basically a massive fish head with big fins 😲 Do you know of a good place to see them underwater? A.k.a. MOLA MOLA's are some of the weirdest and least understood ocean animals out there, yet encounters are often enough and we know that they like to bask in the sun 🌞🌞🌞 just at the surface by swimming on one side, presumably heating its body up after the very deep dives they do even up to 600 meters. Research says they spend most of their lives deeper than 200 meters. #sunfish
Do you know why GREEN SEA TURTLES are called green? Its not their external appearance! One of the most iconic ocean animals species, these turtles are mostly herbivorous meaning they eat seagrass which is why you can often spot them in the Red Sea's grass covered lagoons slowly munching away 😀🐢. That's about it for our short Red Sea animals miniseries. Which animal did you like best? The oceanic white tip shark, the dugong or the thia turtle? #turtles
Do you know where MERMAIDS come from🤔? The very concept comes precisely from the DUGONG! which in Malay language means "the lady of the sea" and back in the day eluded sailors who thought them to be half human. Dugongs are very friendly massive sea mammals that eat just sea grass and are often found in Red Sea lagoons. They are also sometimes named a little less favorable like 'sea cow, sea pig or sea camel'. FUN FACT: dugongs are actually more closely related to elephants than to other sea mammals! They also have their famous cousins from across the grest pond - the manatees😀. #dugong
