#Repost @vanguard.rep ・・・ ON THE THIRD DAY opens TONIGHT! This play has been a passion project for a very small team, and when we say small, we mean it. VanguardRep is comprised of five people who did most of the backend work on their own. Five people handled all the design aspects (set, costumes, lighting, projections, sound), all the creative aspects (directing, dramaturgy, fight choreography, movement, music), and all the frontend aspects (marketing, social media, press, ticketing, house management). Our team of five spent many 12+ hour workdays building, painting, cleaning, rehearsing, and polishing. . And that was just the 4-week rehearsal process--we've been at work on this beautiful play since October 2017, and our five person team has been at work on the Windmill Arts Center, making it the space it is today, since Spring 2016. We've done all of this without pay and on top of full-time jobs, masters' programs, and cross-country travel. Matthew Burgos, Elisa Blandford, Sam R Ross, Elizabeth Gulick Ross, and Kirin McCrory poured their heart and soul and blood, sweat, and tears, and everything in between into this space, this company, and this production. . We could not have pulled this production off without the help of playwright Amina S. McIntyre; our production team, Meghan B Zern, Danny Davis, John Cable, and Benjamin Gravitt; or our cast, Daviorr Snipes, Tanya Freeman, Amari J. Ingram, Candice Marie Singleton, and Bryshan J White. . Atlanta, this play is for you! Amina wrote a play by an ATLien for ATLiens (and you better believe there's a song from "ATLiens" in the pre-show). This play packs a punch, and it's a play that deserves to be seen. Tickets are $20 and some change because we want our work to be accessible to a wide range of audiences. There are just a couple seats left for opening night tonight--so get them now if you want them!--but you can catch one of 14 performances between now and Aug 19. . We'd love to see each and every one of you there. . This is DQ. He lives in our lobby & inspired the name of our building. DQ gets some pretty dramatic lighting all to his fine self. Can you guess who DQ is? . . . (Spoiler alert: doesn't stand for Dairy Queen, no matter how amazing she is.)
