Are you a film producer??? 🎬🎥 If you produce films for a living, then it’s no secret how important intellectual property is to your profession. In all honesty, intellectual property is the lifeblood of your work. You take ideas and manifest them into beautiful works of art on screen for the world to enjoy. That being said, copyright protection in your content isn’t even a question.
But what about trademarks and your production company?
It doesn’t matter if your an indie film producer or a major commercial imprint, all films are produced by a source, and that source becomes synonymous with the quality of the films it produces. Can you think of some movies you love that were produced by @MarvelStudios @UniStudios @ParamountPics @FocusFeatures @Lionsgate @bad_robot
just to name a few?
Imagine if these studios never owned rights to their names and logos that they emblazon on the big screen before every film? How would we know which studios are responsible for producing the film? Great films, at that?
Think about the brand when your developing your production company. If you produce film, you want to do everything in your power to make sure that the films you produce are very clearly associated with your imprint. And further, you don’t want someone trying to knockoff your efforts by popping up with a similar name for their company and ruining or obfuscating your reputation. And if they do, you’ll need the federal tools provided by federal trademark protection to fend off counterfeiters and copycats.
Take your films seriously, take your brand seriously, and make sure everyone knows who you are and where your film comes from. If you know a film producer that needs to see this tag them below! 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾 #trademarkprotip
