Misty, otherworldly vibes from deep within the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, thanks to @tasmanianwilderness.
First gazetted by UNESCO in December 1982, the 1.4 million hectares that now make up the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area are part of a chain of six national parks and a number of reserves and conservation areas that together cover one fifth of Tasmania's land mass. 🍃 🌿 ⛰ Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania
A moment of delicate sunrise light captured earlier in the season over Ben Lomond by @alexweir_.
Located in @northerntasmania
, about a 1-hour drive west of Launceston, Ben Lomond National Park is home to Tassie's premier ski field. At its centre is Ben Lomond, a magnificent mountain dominated by an alpine plateau over 1500 metres high and surrounded on all sides by precipitous escarpments. It's spectacular in any season. 🏔 🏂 🌞 Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania

What a stunning location for a round - or two! @sjomanart
is responsible for this aerial shot of Barnbougle - home to two of @Australia
's top 10 public golf courses: The Dunes and Lost Farm. Located on the outskirts of the @northerntasmania
coastal town of Bridport, these two coastal links courses are as picturesque as they are challenging. Play them and you'll soon realise why the global accolades keep coming. 🏌️️ ⛳️️ 📷 Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania
Volumes of atmosphere in @joebutts_
' epic image of the double-walled Gordon Dam. Located a 2.5 hour drive west of @hobartandbeyond
, deep within the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park and Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, the Gordon Dam was built in 1974 by the Tasmanian Hydro-Electric Commission. Today it's home to the world's highest commercial abseil - 140 metres straight down! 😮 📷 💦 Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania

From photographer @tscharke
regarding Tassie's night skies: 'If you’re lucky you can capture Aurora Australis and the galactic core of the Milky Way at the same time. Here a light painted gum tree separates them, with its branches reaching out towards the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC - middle right). The LMC is one of the closest galaxies to the Milky Way, but is still 163,000 light years away....It's so amazing when you get to know what is present in the night sky!' ✨ 😮 📷 Thanks for sharing your image - and knowledge - with us, Luke.
That feeling you get when you realise the weekend is almost over...😆 @sandra_celebrates_tasmania
recently captured this beautiful image of Bennett's wallaby quietly washing its face in late afternoon light. The Bennetts wallaby is one of Tassie’s most commonly seen native animals. The species is also widespread in the southeast of mainland @Australia
, where it is known as the Red-necked wallaby. ❤️ ☀️ 🌿 Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania
Winding through the lunar landscapes that surround the historic mining settlement of Queenstown with @northsouth.
The largest town on @tasmaniasnorthwest
's West Coast, Queenstown was once the world's richest mining town. Copper mining and mass logging in the early 1900s created this surreal and rocky 'moonscape' of bare coloured conglomerate. Fortunately, Mother Nature is slowly reclaiming what was hers. 🌿 ⛰ 🙌 Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania
Hypnotic swirls and calming cascades captured at the base of Liffey Falls by @pixelshifta.
One of Tassie's most celebrated waterfalls, Liffey Falls is located in @northerntasmania
within the Liffey Falls State Reserve. The 45-minute return walk to the falls is one of the 60 Great Short Walks of Tasmania and is perfect for families. Why not pack and picnic and make a day of it?... ☀️ 🧀 🚶 Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania

Getting checked out by a toothy and inquisitive resident at @tasmaniandevilunzoo.
Located on the Tasman Peninsula, a one-hour drive south-east of @hobartandbeyond
, the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo challenges the conventions of regular wildlife parks and encourages visitors to reconsider how they view the natural world. The four unique habitat areas dedicated to Tassie devils are sure to get your thinking - and smiling! 😀 🌏 🐾 Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania
Wintery wanderings on the summit of Ben Lomond with @alexweir_.
Located in @northerntasmania
, Ben Lomond is the centrepiece of the Ben Lomond National Park, a reserve that boasts Tassie's premier ski field in winter, and unlimited options for outdoor adventures year-round. The best part? It's only a one-hour drive from Launceston. 🙌 🏔 ☀️ Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania
