‘Banca Catalana’ building | Enric Tous + Josep Maria Fragas | 1979 | Barcelona
The building consists of three octagonal and organic towers covered with vegetation that hangs on continuous platters. The most surprising thing about this building is the design of vertical landscaping, the work of Jordi Aguilar with a complex irrigation system. The three modules are joined in the form of a triangle with a lower octagonal building preceding the entrance.
The architects Tous i Fargas incorporate in their works, between the sixties and seventies, features of Japanese and American architecture, the use of new materials and new technologies, thus moving away from the dominant Spanish architecture of the time.
