Western Winter Nights ————— I found this really nice windmill in the desert the other week. I was really excited to see that it was in such great shape and the tank was full of water so I could get this reflection shot of the stars reflecting in it. Can you spot the Andromeda Galaxy in the sky? ————— Camera: Sony a7s2 Lens: Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 Shutter: 20 seconds ISO: 12,800 Single Exposure Tripod: @vanguardworld ALTA Pro 2+ 264 carbon fiber

Falcon 9 Rocket Launch ————— I’m still so happy that I got to witness the Falcon 9 Rocket Launch last Sunday evening. It was such an unforgettable experience! Seeing the sky light up as if a comet just entered our atmosphere and created a Nebula was such a surreal moment. Something you could only see in dreams or a video game turned into reality. Turn your sound on and watch this video! It’s condensed into 1 minute but the whole event lasted around 12 minutes. So beautiful, I wish it stayed in the sky haha. Science! ————— I’m still having difficulties putting @spacex ’s Falcon 9 Launch experience into words last night. It was just crazy. By far one of the coolest things I have ever seen next to a total solar eclipse and the aurora borealis. It just didn’t seem real. It was like a dream or CGI in a video game. What started off as a small firework, exploded into a giant space nebula that lasted what seemed like a few minutes, but was actually around 15 minutes long. What’s even more impressive is that the rocket eventually landed itself after sending the satellite it was carrying into orbit. Keep an eye out for the next night launch, you won’t be disappointed! ————— Camera: Sony a7s2 Lens: Tamron 15-30 f/2.8 Shutter: 5 seconds ISO: 3200 Tripod: @vanguardworld ALTA Pro 2+ 264 carbon fiber

Falcon 9 🚀 ————— Wow, way you put on a show Falcon 9! That was one of the coolest things I’ve seen since the solar eclipse last year! My milkyway workshop group was treated to an amazing @spacex rocket launch this evening in Joshua Tree. This rocket was boosting an Argentine environmental satellite into orbit then pretty much turned around and landed its damn self. So crazy. More photos to come! ————— Camera: Canon 6D Lens: Canon 70-200 f/4 Shutter: 1/5 & 2 second exposure bracket ISO: 3200 Tripod: @vanguardworld ALTA Pro 2+ 264 carbon fiber

Holy carp! My milkyway workshop group and I just watched the Falcon 9 rocket launch in Joshua Tree National Park! This is a jpeg sent from my Sony and is unedited! #falcon9 #rocketlaunch #sonyalpha #spacexfalcon9 #spa #spacex #vandenbergafb #spacexlaunch #spacexlaunch2018 #elonmusk
Park Star Wars ————— I’ve been enjoying watching my favorite National Parks on Instagram go at it claiming whose park has the best night sky. While all of them have great skies, they all differ in so many ways. Each one has such unique geography and foreground subjects so it’s hard for me to pick my favorite. Which is your favorite national park to visit? If I had to pick, it would be @Saguaronationalpark West because it’s only a 15 minute drive from my house. Be sure to check out the #parkstarwars tag. Its pretty funny to see their witty comments on each others posts! ———— This is a photo of one of my Milkyway Workshop clients holding a laser pointer Wednesday night taken out near SNP. I just added another workshop in Tucson next week and there’s only a few spots open. More info on my website! Link in bio. ————— Camera: Sony a7s2

Joshua Tree Milkyway Workshop ————— I’m excited to be returning to Joshua Tree for my final 2018 milkyway group workshop this weekend followed by a couple nights of private instruction. There are still a few spots for this workshop if you’d like to join me under the stars and create beautiful milkyway photos! More information on my website. Almighty Skógafoss ————— There are many waterfalls in Iceland. So many, in fact, that if you saw 25 new waterfalls every day for a year you would still not see them all. Each one has its own particular character, shape, and perspective. The iconic waterfalls, such as Sókgafoss, are easily accessible right off the main road. But some require a 4x4 and a little adventure. Skógafoss is one of my favorites because you almost always get a massive rainbow when you’re there. Where is the favorite waterfall that you’ve ever seen? ————— Camera: Sony a7s2 Lens: Canon 70-200 Shutter: 20 seconds ISO: 100 Tripod: @vanguardworld ALTA Pro 2+ 264 carbon fiber

Parts Unknown ————— One of my favorite things is a good old fashion night hike. It’s amazing what excitement a camera, tripod, headlamp, and a sense for adventure can bring. Join me under the night sky in Joshua Tree for my final 2018 milkyway photography workshop coming up next weekend! Only a few spots left! Mammoth ————— One of my favorite things about landscape photography is exploring new places. That sense of unfamiliarity makes shooting so exciting for me. It can also be the most challenging which is why I love storm chasing. You never know where you will end up! What is your favorite part about photography? ————— Camera: Sony a7s2 Lens: Canon 70-200 f/7.1 Shutter: 4 seconds with ND filter ISO: 400 Tripod: Vanguard ALTA Pro 2+ 264 carbon fiber

Roaming the Canadian Rockies __________ I had so much fun exploring in the Canadian Rockies the other week. From 4am to midnight, our group was roaming around beautiful locations near Banff including this one at Peyto Lake. Peyto is a glacier-fed Lake in Banff National Park and is named after Bill Peyto who was a well-known trail guide and trapper back in the day. You can see this scene in motion in my timelapse video I posted recently yourselves! Speaking of roaming...I had the pleasure of hanging out with @reneeroaming during my trip. I’ve been following Renee’s adventures for over a year now so it was fun to finally collaborate on a campaign together! Her and her husband @matthewhahnel were both super nice and fun to be around and I look forward to our next adventure wherever it may be! Cheers guys! ——— Camera: Canon 6D Lens: Sigma art 14mm F/1.8 Tripod: @Vanguardworld Alta Pro 2+ 264 carbon fiber
