I’ve never felt so alone and scared on this trip until that day. After my self-guided walking tour in the morning, I took the subway to Kanjo dori Higashi and then took Chuo Bus No. 79 to Moerenuma Park. I had no idea that the park is closed every Monday. As you can see in the photos, the massive park is covered in knee to waist deep snow. I arrived at the east gate, the only gate open all year round, but I couldn't find the path going to the entrance. It was all covered in snow, no security guards or staff, which makes sense because they are closed every Mondays.
I couldn't walk in the right path for pedestrians because I wasn't wearing a knee-high and waterproof snow boots so I said fuck it then I walked where the cars go in and out of the park. I was already halfway to the entrance when it started to snow. It was so cold and fucking scary. There was nobody else in the park but me. I've walked like 500 meters already so I can't turn around and go back.
I tried to find a cafe or just anywhere I can stop to for a few minutes because I couldn't feel my toes anymore. There where vending machines selling hot drinks but to get to one of the machines, I had to walk again in a knee-high deep snow. Despite putting heat packs, my boots wasn't really for this kind of weather. I was wearing my gloves but my fingers were stiff and cold. I remember Nello and Patrasche walking in the harsh winter. Ganun kalala at kalungkot. Naisip ko pag nahimatay ako dito, matatabunan lang ako ng snow 😭
Another tourist appeared out of nowhere. She walked towards me and asked if the park is closed. We both laughed because we were the only ones who didn't know about it. She said she also walked from the east gate and she wondered why there weren't any people in the park. It was a short conversation but it was amazing that a presence of another human being makes walking in a frozen and cold path more bearable. 🙏🏻
