... Meet 10 year old Annika Viswesh! Anikka is an 8th grade student from Sunnyvale, California who became blind at the age of 1 year due to Amblyopia. Although she has participated in lots of procedures throughout the years to improve her sight, she has taken initiative to help simplify and improve the effectiveness of Amblyopia treatment by creating her very own solution... the "Oculus Patch Assistant." The Oculus Patch uses a smart sensor, a smartphone application, and a predictive machine that learns certain algorithms to increase the effectiveness. Seeing that eye patches are a common treatment for amblyopia, Annika's model could actually cut patch-wearing by 100 or 200 hours per year. She is continuing her efforts by working with doctors at the Palo Alto Foundation to conduct field testing as we speak and has been chosen as a finalist for Project CS Girls! What an amazing list of accomplishments! I can't wait to see what you work on next.

! Please meet 7 year old Jenesis Shaw. Jenesis is very active in school and in her community- participating in Girl Scouts, 100-Mile club, dance, and snuggles with her dog, "Tank." In 2017, Jen's mom discovered two small masses near her rib cage around bath time. Soon after, she was diagnosed with Wilm Tumor, which is a childhood kidney cancer. Through 26 weeks of chemo and 5 surgeries, Jenny kept a smile on her face and showed fearless strength. After a hard battle, Jenny beat cancer and immediately started “cancer kits.” Cancer Kits are care and survival packages for kids who are going through chemo; giving them a way to feel comfortable and at home during their journey to recovery. Thank you Jenny for being such a light in the world and giving us babies an amazing role model! To support her cause, head to the link in my bio!
