I pack snack & lunches for my 4 year old and Dr. Daryl and wanted to share some of my go-tos. - raw veggies: husk cherries, mini watermelon cucumbers, watermelon radish, bell peppers, broccoli, purple or red carrots. (My son loves colorful foods - a rainbow of veggies does better than 1 single color) . - DIPS: 1. Baba Ganoush (in photo today), 2. hummus (flavors like red pepper, garlic, Italian- no tahini, plain, and I ADD raw spinach since you can’t taste. It just makes a beautiful green color). 3. Pea Dip 4. Favorite salad dressings: carrot ginger, if you have the @getoffyouracid book - go to page 206 and any in that section are terrific) 5. Raw Spinach artichoke dip . . - Ezekiel bread with raw almond butter or coconut butter. I also add Hemp Seeds and chia seeds or slices of fruit. . . - FRUIT: today concord baby grapes from our local organic farmers market (other favs: green apple w/cinnamon, kiwi, strawberries, & watermelon) . - CHIA PUDDINGS . - THERMOS with soup or vegan Mac & cheese . - DRINK water, coconut water, infused water with strawberries, mint, grapefruit, lemon combo. Simply roll these up for a quick lunch, share them when entertaining, or pack them up to take on the go. If you’re going to pack these, roll tightly and store in a container without a lot of excess air to keep the avocado from browning. . Feel free to add extra ingredients like more crunchy veggies and change them up each time. They’re super versatile, so they work well for the whole family. . In fact, this is a staple lunch for my son – quick, easy, and he LOVES it and your kids will too! . INGREDIENTS [Serves 1] ✔️1⁄2 Hass avocado🥑, sliced ✔️1 lettuce leaf (butter lettuce or romaine best) ✔️1⁄2 tomato🍅, diced ✔️1 tsp. cilantro, chopped . ✔️1⁄4 red onion, diced, or to taste . ✔️1⁄2 tsp. cumin . ✔️Sea salt (Celtic Grey, Himalayan, or our fav @redmondrealsalt Redmond Real Salt) & pepper to taste . ✔️Small handful of spinach Green jalapeño pepper🌶, to taste (optional) ✔️Alfalfa sprouts🌱 (add some alkaline power) (optional) . DIRECTIONS: Smear the avocado on the lettuce leaf and sprinkle with diced tomato, red onion, cilantro, cumin, sea salt, and pepper. Add the spinach. PROTEIN CALCULATOR - . Here’s the problem: most people are eating way too much protein— consuming FIVE times the protein they actually need—and more times than not, the protein comes from animals, and the meat is poor quality. . Protein is a necessary part of your daily diet, but much less than what most people are currently eating. . For example, research shows that excess animal protein is linked with osteoporosis, kidney disease, calcium stones in the urinary tract, and some cancers. . In addition, excess protein converts to glucose and is stored as fat, just like sugar and grains. . So how much protein do you really need? . The average person should fall between the 30- and 70-gram zone per day. . When calculating your target daily protein intake, use your ideal weight. . So I want you to try a formula, which will give you the number of grams of protein you should eat each day: . First, come up with your ideal weight, and then convert that number into kilograms by dividing by 2.2. . For example, if you weigh 200 pounds, and your ideal weight is 150, then divide 150 by 2.2, which is 68.18 kilograms. . Next, round to the nearest whole number, which is 68. . Finally, multiply this by 0.8, which equals 54.4, and round this number again to the nearest whole number. . That means your goal throughout the day should be a target of 54 grams of daily of good quality protein, spread out throughout your meals (18 grams per meal). . A 3-ounce serving of cooked meat equals about 21 grams of protein. This is about the size of a deck of cards or bar of soap. Thin, flat slices of fish should resemble a standard checkbook for a 3-ounce (21 gram) serving size. . It’s all about balance - Plant-based proteins first, wild-caught fish next, animal last. Quality just as important as quantity! Never exceed 15% of your total caloric intake to keep INFLAMMATION and INSULIN at bay! . The online testing kits for gut and microbiome health, such as Viome are great in concept, but unfortunately the testing is flawed. .
