Wedding | equestrian | family portrait photographer. Based in Hampshire, and travel far and wide with my camera
Asked what the perks of my role are is quite a difficult question to answer.
On reflection there are two answers that could be equally valid.
The obvious is that I get to photograph some seriously gorgeous horses, not always competing, but as photography becomes a bigger part of what I do, the enjoyment of capturing animals I've been around almost all my life seems like a pretty good perk to me.
However, I could just as easily say that there are few perks about being 'jobbing' photographer. Long hours, endless requests for discounts, and the lack of appreciation that taking photographs is only the start of any particular photo shoot. Often the time taken to edit, collate, upload and deliver the finished product far outweighs the initial camera time.
In spite of all I've said, if I could, I would spend twice or three times as many hours taking pictures as I do now. Ultimately the perk is being lucky enough to do something I really love.
