This is a variation of an Upper-Lower where we break days up into two categories: Upper Body and Lower Body.

One day is dedicated to strength - this is where we train heavier but perform less total volume. The other day is dedicated to Hypertrophy - this is where we go higher reps and achieve more total volume.

💥DROP SETS TO BUILD MORE MUSCLE Looking to maximize your time in the gym and build more muscle? Have you been struggling to put on muscle and gain size? - Adding this element to your workouts could be a game changer for you to finally start adding muscle mass. - Right now if you have plateaued in your workout and are not seeing the results you want it's time to change your approach. - See the common approach many guys take in the gym is to grab a set of weights and do curls for example for like 10 reps. They repeat this style of working out and wonder why they're not seeing results. See you're leaving lots of gains on the table when you train like this in the gym. - What you need to do is start incorporating drop sets into your training. A drop set is when you perform an exercise for your designated rep range, then drop the weight and perform another set to failure. You can do this a few times to get the full affect and benefit of the drop set. - Which do you think is going to cause more muscle damage and subsequent growth? 3 sets of bench press at 175 lbs for 10 reps? Or 3 sets that have 2 drop sets? For example set 1 would look like 10 reps at 175 lbs followed by 8 reps at 155 lbs followed by 6 reps at 135 lbs. Repeating that for 3 sets is way more volume and overload then 3 straight sets. You are essentially getting in 9 sets on an exercise as compared to 3. - Now is this something you do on every exercise in your workout? I say yes if your overall goal is muscle size. Is this going to make you the strongest? Absolutely not. BUT if your main goal is building muscle, using drop sets will allow you to maximize your time in the gym, and get that extra volume and consistent progressive overload to build more muscle mass. - If you care a lot about overall strength, then simply perform a drop set on the last set of each exercise in your workout. This will allow you to maximize the strength on your lifts while still getting that extra volume. - #Repost @fastandswole • • •
