After a little hiatus from yoga, I took class today and feel amazing! It’s interesting because I feel that the break was needed. I killed it in class and felt really motivated and self-loving afterwards.

MODERN MERIDIAN THEORY: SELF-MEDICATING THROUGH YIN YOGA.
In dragonfly pose, we are mainly stimulating the liver meridian, part of it's main long branch found along the mid-line of the inner leg. The liver is paired with the gall bladder meridian and together these are responsible for filtering and detoxifying the body.
If you have abdominal swelling, swelling in the ankles or legs, skin and eyes that appear yellowish in colour - these are just some symptoms that suggest you may have an imbalance in your liver meridian. If you are experiencing frustration or anger in your life, this could also be a sign that your liver balance is off.
Once you learn a few simple yin poses, their corresponding meridians and the symptoms and causes of 'dis-ease', you can start to use your practice to help strengthen your body and mind. Equipping yourself with this knowledge, will turn your practice into a form of of self-medication.
Strengthening the body does not always mean building yang tissues (muscles) or improving mobility in the body, by stressing yin tissues (ligaments and joints), but it should also mean strengthening our life force energy - the invisible aspect of us that keeps us alive and well - through a targeted meridian practice.

I just drove past a car that had “dream, not of what you are, but of what you want to be” written on the back of its windshield. I always say I never thought I would have been a yoga teacher, and if someone told me how much it would have changed my life, I definitely wouldn’t have believed them. Yesterday I taught my last class at the UNT REC and all of my favorite people (minus @dianawithana
) were there to send me off. As we were ending class, one of my students came up to me and said, “you will continue to bless people wherever you go.” Yes, I cried. Lol, but I thought about how that is truly all I’ve ever wanted. I never really knew what I wanted to be when I was growing up, but I knew I wanted to love on as many people as I could in my life. I absolutely love what I do, and more importantly I love being open, I love encouraging people, I love reminding people to slow down and breathe and I love to show people how loved they are. I am so thankful for the time and wonderful people I met through UNT, it will forever hold a special, green space in my heart. •

’s protip, channeling my energy forward instead of looking down really improved my pose. My last post I made doing the crow pose, I was looking down and couldn’t hold it for more than a second. Hooray for improvement!
First time my foot partially peeked out above my head in king dancer 😇 Shifting of eye gaze is quite a challenge as I’m too used to looking forward. But master said gazing upward is prettier 😁
