👸🏾 I am Joyful! This affirmation feels like home base for me, where I typically default. I know that if I’m not radiating joy, I need to check in with myself to understand why I’m off. Growing up in South Florida, I went to Disney a lot. It still brings me joy being at Disney World because every cast members goal is ensure each guest is having a magical day. No matter what is happening outside...there’s a happy place where everyone comes together seeking joy. I ran the Disney Princess 5k yesterday and got to take this photo with my favorite Princess, Tiana👸🏾✨ Seemed like the perfect photo to share for the challenge today! #rundisney #disneyprincess5k

When we open up, show up, level up, then the universe can meet us half way. But first we must do the work, heal our past, release self sabotage, align ourself to what we ask for. When we are in alignment, then the things we ask for can be drawn into our vortex. It’s like tuning the radio, we must tune in to be able to download the message. Our actions must be in congruence with our thoughts. Having 110% faith and trust in the universe is also a part of the journey. There will be times when we are truly tested, but that’s the universe testing us to see how pure our intentions are. Are we willing to sacrifice? Be patient and get used to delayed gratification. Nothing great happens over night, the hardest part is showing up everyday. Focus on the work, the rest will figure itself out. Surrender and flow 🙏✨😊❤️ Reminder the universe has your back and is waiting for you to show up fully.
I’m bringing back “Five Facts About Me” because IG has changed a lot (for me) over the years and I think it’s time to implement some feel good nostalgia into our day while also getting to know the people you’re following and that follow you.
1️⃣ People that have known me a long time know me as Monica from FRIENDS - my love languages were labels, highlighters, planners, and lists. But, the older I get, the more disorganized I have become. I am constantly misplacing and forgetting things and cursing that I cannot find something, but, I can always find things for my family.
2️⃣ My favorite movies are Teacher’s Pet with Doris Day and Funny Face with Audrey and Fred (also, Sabrina). Growing up, my favorite shows were I Love Lucy (we owned the entire series on VHS) and The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and I would often dream about living in the city in a fancy apartment as a journalist just like MTM.
3️⃣ I cannot stand small talk and tend to avoid it. I would find it so interesting and liberating for people to stop talking about the weather and tell people what the best part of their day was or what three things they could take to a deserted island (I still love playing this game).
4️⃣ I modeled in Paris, served as a military dental assistant, enrolled in and dropped out of beauty school, obtained a small business license for a non-toxic home cleaning service ten years ago, amongst other pursuits. I am deliberate and methodical but also impulsive and spontaneous. Once my mind is made, I go into things at 110% and learn very quickly whether something is FOR me or not. I want to do everything but not forever, ya know? The trial and error has been my vehicle for coming home to myself over the years.
5️⃣ I haven’t colored my hair in nearly two years. I bought a bottle of “sun-in” today at Target because I don’t want to commit to lighter hair but I also want lighter hair. Shout out to my friends who remember Sun In 🤣

With the rain falling today it was true perfection. I learned so much I’m excited to apply to teaching as well as my own life to help lower cortisol levels! Today’s topic for the Eco Kind Yogi challenge is loss of biodiversity.
“The preservation of biodiversity is not just a job for governments. International and non-governmental organisations, the private sector and each and every individual have a role to play in changing entrenched outlooks and ending destructive patterns of behaviour.” - Kofi Annan
Last night, the United Nations released a groundbreaking report highlighting the widespread loss of many of the world's plant and animal species. The global grassroots organization Slow Food was among the groups that called for far greater attention by world leaders to the "debilitating" loss of biodiversity and the disastrous effects the decline is having on food system.
According to a study performed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on 91 countries around the world, the loss of thousands of plant and animal species is affecting air and water quality, tree and plant health, and worsening the spread of disease among livestock.
- Today only nine crops account for 66 percent of total crop production
- At least 24 percent of nearly 4,000 wild food species are declining in abundance (best case scenario estimate)
- Of more than 7,700 breeds of livestock worldwide, more than a quarter are at risk for extinction
- Nearly a third of fish species have been overfished and about half have reached their sustainable level

Less biodiversity means that plants and animals are more vulnerable to pests and diseases. Overfishing and use of pesticides are also driving species to extinction.
So how can we help?
- Help native pollinators 🐝
- Reduce/Eliminate pesticide use
- Plant native plants 🌱
- Limit food waste
- Buy local organic foods
