💫 A change in perspective can be instantaneous. Like turning that frown upside down 🙁🙃 (that’s an easy shift).
. . .
👋🏽 Alooha! I’m Rox 🤗. May I share 3 small, positive ways I’ve shifted perspective?
First, I’ve surrendered to being young at heart 💕! I remember my Dad arriving at this same age and deciding he was old. Everything he said and did after 50 was demonstrative of how he felt and acted ‘old’, and sadly that’s the direction he was going #thebodyfollowsthemind
I squeeze lemons (actually 😄) into a glass dispenser every Sunday night so on weekday mornings, I can pour some drops into a big glass o H2O💦 to start the day. #hydrate
I commit to minimum 20 mins walk every day, whenever I can fit it in. Sometimes it’s a 40-min jog 🏃🏽♀️ but that minimum commitment is what makes it a #goodhabit
. . .
❓What are some ways there has been impact or positive change in your life because of small shifts and #tinyhabits
? I’m curious 🤓!!!
PS. This 📸 was from a shoot we did for my yoga sessions + retreat @theslatephuket
👈🏽 it’s dreamy ☁️💛

One of those shapes I hope my body can make one day. My chest & shoulders are still not opened enough for my foot & hand to make the connection. There’s still a foot gap between them. We were learning this pose in one of the hatha class. After I had attempted both sides, I sat on my mat to take a breather & noticed all the ladies around me could do it with ease except me. I know. I know. I shouldn’t be comparing... blah blah blah... but when reality hit in my face like this, it’s hard to close an eye & pretend that I didn’t see anything 🤣
I am so full of joy – and yet full of fear.
Give all your energy to joy, and fear will disappear. Ignore fear, don’t pay any attention to fear, because the more attention you pay to it, the longer it will linger on. Pour yourself totally in the direction from where joy is arising, and fear will disappear just as darkness disappears when you bring light in.
Joy is light. And joy is the beginning of a great pilgrimage that ends in finding godliness. So go on – without any fear, because existence always protects those who trust it. Relax, give yourself to existence and allow the joy to overwhelm you. Let it become your wings, so that you can reach to the stars.
A joyful heart is very close to the stars.
It is only the sad and the sorrowful and the miserable who are going towards hell. They are creating their hell. The joyful and the singing and the dancing and the celebrating are creating their paradise by each of their songs, by each of their dances.
It is in your hands whether to create paradise or to fall into a darkness, into hellfire. These are not outside you; these both are within you. It all depends what you choose to be.
Choose to be divine, choose to be more and more a celebrant, choose to be festive, so more and more flowers can blossom in your being, and more and more fragrance can become available to you.
And this way will not only help you, it will help all those with whom you come in contact. Joy is as infectious as any disease. When you see a few people dancing, suddenly you feel your feet are ready. You may try to control them, because control has been taught to you, but your body wants to join the dance. Whenever you have an opportunity to laugh, join; whenever you have an opportunity to dance, join; whenever you have an opportunity to sing, sing – and one day you will find you have created your paradise.
It is a good beginning. Never listen to negative things, because if you listen to them they can poison you, they can destroy your joy – keep it pure, unpolluted .And here are people who will dance with you, who will celebrate, because you have taken the first step towards existence.(c) Osho
Yoga Is Not Just Asana. 💫🌀🌀🌀
Yoga is so much more than breathing and body postures. It is a way of living dedicated to creating a union between body, mind and spirit. Yoga can be practiced in everything we do in our day to day life. You don’t need a pleasant weather and tranquility to become a Yogi. You need to make balance and create equanimity so as to live in peace, good health and harmony with the greater whole.
The foundations of Yoga were written down thousands of year ago in the #YogaSutra
of Patanjali around 200 AD in India. It portrays the internal workings of the mind and gives an 8- stage plan for controlling its anxiety in order to appreciate enduring peace.
Now you might be thinking that you do not have the time or efficiency for practicing the way of living preached in old scriptures but , it’s not at all complicated.
The heart of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra is an EIGHTH -LIMBED PATH that forms a structural framework for your practice. No one element in this structure is given priority over the other in any sort of hierarchical way. Each limb has its own holistic importance to help you find your connectivity to the divine.
THE EIGHT LIMBS OF YOGA ARE :
1. YAMAS (Universal Morality)
- Ahimsa – Compassion for all living things.
- Satya – Commitment to Truthfulness
- Asteya – Non-stealing | Keeping trust
- Brahmacharya – Sense control
- Aparigraha – Neutralizing the desire to acquire and hoard wealth.
2. NIYAMA (Personal Observances)
- Saucha – Purity
- Santosa – Contentment
- Tapas – Disciplined use of our energy
- Svadhyaya – Self study
- Isvarapranidhana – Celebration of the Spiritual
3. ASANAS (Body postures)
4. PRANAYAMA (Breath Control)
5. PRATYAHARA (Control of the Senses)
6. DHARANA (Concentration and cultivating inner perceptual awareness)
7. DHYANA (Devotion , Meditation on the Divine)
8. SAMADHI (Union with the Divine)
Can anybody meditate ? I get asked this question a lot. I suspect people ask because they think that probably everybody else can meditate but they can’t. They want to be reassured that they are not alone, that there are at least some other people they can identify with, those hapless souls who were born incapable of meditating. But it isn’t so simple.
Thinking you are unable to meditate is a little like thinking you are unable to breath , or to concentrate or relax.
People often confuse meditation with relaxation or some other special state that you have to get to or feel. When once or twice you try and you don’t get anywhere or you didn’t feel anything special, then you think you are one of those people who can’t do it.
But , meditation is not about feeling a certain way. It’s about feeling the way you feel. It’s not about making the mind empty or still, although stillness does deepen in meditation and can be cultivated systematically. Above all, meditation is about letting the mind be as it is and knowing something about “how” it is in this moment. It’s not about getting somewhere else., but about allowing yourself to be where you already are. If you don’t understand this, you will think you are constitutionally unable to meditate. But that’s just more thinking , and in this case, incorrect thinking at that.
True, meditation does require energy and a commitment to stick with it. But then, wouldn’t it be accurate to say , “ I won’t stick with it” rather than, “ I can’t do it?” Anybody can sit down and watch their breath or watch their mind. And you don’t have to be sitting. You could do it WALKING, STANDING, RUNNING, STANDING ON ONE LEG, laying down or taking a bath. But to stay at it even a 5 min requires intentionality. To make it part of your life requires discipline. So when people say they can’t meditate, what they really mean is that they WONT make time for it . Or when they try , they don’t like what happens. It doesn’t fulfill their expectations. So may be they should try again, this time letting go of their expectations and just watching. (c) #WheneverYouGoThereYouAre #meditation
Wheel Pose energizes you physically and mentally. It counteracts stress, depression and anxiety. This is due to stimulation of the thyroid and pituitary glands when engaged in the posture. You can definitely feel good about practicing wheel! ::: @freeyourchi_
