Every single one of these poses I use to dislike. As fun as headstand can be, I didn’t like it because my core and arms weren’t strong enough to keep pressure off my neck. I hated shoulderstand because I could never keep the balance and again, always felt uncomfortable on my neck for not being ready to come into the pose. Then the version of anjaneyasana was always so tense through my quad, and again, the balance just wasn’t there and I would fall over. I preach this more often than not on a lot of my posts, but yoga is a practice. You don’t just get handed the ability to do more difficult poses. It takes time, patience, and learning about oneself to find the more advanced or deeper practice. And even then! There are still things to learn, and still things to try to develop, or learn enough about what’s involved to get into a said pose. Even with these, there are plenty of things for me to still work on, tweak, and try to perfect. I think it’s important as a teacher to not only show things that are “perfected” but also to show what’s not. We lose sight of what yoga is sometimes by these perfect pictures all around us of extremely difficult binds. Or arm balances that take time and effort to learn. It’s ok to show the vulnerability of what in our practices we haven’t learned, developed into, gained strength for, or found the openness to move into. My practice is imperfectly perfect and it’s ok if yours is too🥰 stay humble, mindful and always know that with work comes the knowledge to help deepen what yoga is or can be to us❤️💪🏻 #yogateacher #yoga #yogaposes #yogagirl #yogainspiration #yogainspired #yogalife #yogafit #yogapractice #yogabody #yogastudent #yogajournal #yogafun #yogaprogress #yogamom #yogaforall #yogalifestyle #yogagoals
Yoga, qigong, or dance, it's all becoming a blur, but it's perfectly ok for me here 💃

First question, “Are you a Yoga Teacher or a serious Yoga Practitioner?”
If the answer was YES then this second question is for you.
Second question, “Do you say or hear a bunch of things in a yoga class that you really don’t understand?”
It is really common for us humans to get stuck on auto pilot. If you teach yoga, you might be stuck in a place where you’re saying the same cues you learned from your teachers without really evaluating how effective they are. And those of you who are avid practitioners might be getting so use to your teachers cues and cadence that you barely even listen anymore. ————————-
If you relate to this, don’t start feeling bad because I did both of these things (as a teacher and student) up until this year! Heck, I still go on autopilot sometimes! ————————
As a teacher, I’ve started to challenge myself by making sure I understand what my cues are doing to the body as well as try to be concise and relatable with my delivery.
In this videos, I’m being pretty technical but if I were to share these concepts in a class, I would teach students HOW to protract the shoulders blades by saying “push down through your hands to dome your upper back” and then tell them, “this is shoulder protraction”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How do you teach plank?

Home schooling life Riley's busy with her science project and I'm trying to fit in some exercise.
Looking for a delicious hip opening pose? Pigeon is where it's at, my friend! If you're new to the pose, I'd grab a pillow or two to place under the bum if you're lifted away from the ground. I love to fold forward onto a pillow and sink in for a couple minutes.
How to do it Starting in downward facing dog, pull the right knee up to the right wrist, allowing the foot to reach over to the left (it looks like a 7). Gently lower the body onto the ground, reaching through the left toes (or if you're away from the ground, put some support under the hips). Press your fingertips into the ground and lift up through the torso, opening the chest. Try to balance the weight evenly between your right and left hip.
Resting option: Fold forward over the leg and rest the forehead on your arms or a pillow.
Sink in and enjoy!
Remember, you're only as strong as your foundation 🙏🏼
I love making programs with that are accessible to everyone and to all practice levels. I believe that everyone should get to enjoy the benefits of yoga which is why I like to focus on teaching the foundations in my classes and on our TTs. Today, I wanted to share how to master back bends & cobra pose 🐍 I'm thinking of sharing more pose tutorials in my TL, let me know what you think in the comments 👇 🎬The video is from my new for Beginners class
