Self-limiting beliefs: do you have them?😔
I became trapped by one today. I have NEVER been able to do the splits, which I was reminded of in yoga when I attempted them. The negative self-talk started.👎🏼
But I stopped myself. My word of the year is Soar, and I am rising above my negativity and fear and relying on the strength of my Creator to keep me in the air. 🦅
Sure, I’ve never done the splits. But I’ve never done a headstand. Until now. I’ve never held my own body weight in an arm balance. Until now. I’ve never owned a business. Until now. I’ve never shared my story of surviving mental illness. Until now. I’ve never been an advocate for food freedom and whole body healing. Until now.😄
Just because I’ve never done something doesn’t mean I can’t or won’t.💥
What fears hold you back? What can you do to silence them and rise above?👊🏼

had to say about retreats: "This experience uncovered something that can only be uncovered by moving through and cleansing the murky waters of my life; by wiping the smudges clean off my mirror to reveal the reflection of your honest and candid truth. There is no book or article to read and no story to hear, that could possibly hand over a transformation like this - one that would change you forever. One that would infuse you with a remembering. A remembering of how magnificent and bold you are. How beautiful and fierce; powerful and strong; how worthy; how joyful and how loved you are. With this work you break through your limiting beliefs, the fears you hide behind and the blocks that keep you from your path, so you may lead a life with clarity, focus, integrity and fearless love."

Ahh the Storms Of Our Lives 🤟🏽📿✨
I like to think of our feelings, our beings as seasons.
The weather seems to naturally sink up to the head space.
**Literally we had a sunny, warm day this weekend and I could not stop smiling...feeling light //
next day was THIS wind, rain, power...and created more of a ‘shedding’ energy mentally.
My point of this is to offer a little tip that has helped me.
When it feels like it is pouring in my head...
I need to find a release.
Often it’s time spent in mama nature, but honestly sometimes what my mind needs is a deeper cleansing.
A Release Letter.
A little different from journaling.
At the top of the paper write an emotion, or an energy or a name (maybe it’s your name)...
That is no longer serving YOU in this season.
Guilt....Comparison...(fill in the blank).
As if this was the very last time you would interact, write down every emotion that comes to mind.
This letter is for your OWN mental health.
Take a few days off.
Then go back and look at that same letter.
Did your perspective shift?
Do you feel lighter SEEING it on paper instead of running circles around your mind?
Even burn that letter...more release👌🏽🔥
That release may be uncomfortable.
But if you can bare the discomfort...
If you can bare the feelings...
The season you are in...
The storm will pass.
At the exact and perfect moment.
The balance IS the wobbly moments!
The seasons create shifts in perspective.
A tree in the winter looks and feels so different than in the summer.
We are meant to shed as well...it helps in the trans-formation..
And those that embrace the change-in-form with open arms
Will find a grounding.
Healing requires shedding🌱🦋✨🌬
Wishing you the ability to find a therapeutic release when your season feels a little stormy.🙏🏽⛈🌲🌷
With 🧡 & Gratitude,
Today we celebrate a King 🤴🏾 Martin Luther King embodied yogic qualities of fearlessness, self discipline, non violence, and patience. Thank you for being a light.
Swipe left to read a portion of a letter he wrote that still resonates today and serves as a reminder that yoga is ACTION, not comfortable passivity wrapped in love and light.

Chaturanga Dandasana, Four-Limbed Staff Pose, or Low Plank; is a Yoga asana, in which a STRAIGHT body parallel to the ground is supported by the toes and palms, usually with elbows at a right angle.
If your hips are hitting the floor first, modify from the knees as this will protect the low back and build the core/arm strength to keep them lifted. 🕴️✨
Baby it’s beyond cold outside! There’s no question it is definitely winter out there! I haven’t been this cold in a long time and I’m now more than ever excited to share the gifts of yoga in Mexico with an intimate group of students. .

I guess today is called “Blue Monday”, and it’s said it can be the saddest day of the year.
What do you think?
Are you feeling down today?
Maybe today is a great day for us to reach out to a friend or family member, just to say “hi”.
“We can’t, with truth and consciousness, quote my father, while dehumanizing each other...” - Bernice King
What do you do each day to promote equality for all? At work? At school? At the yoga studio? Your neighborhood? The streets where you walk and commute? Are you truly walking the path? Or are there moments when you’ve chosen to be silent and turn your face? Yet chant the words in class?
In yoga class, we often practice the mantra or phrase “Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu” (May all beings be happy and free, may my thoughts, words and actions bring this to all). Sometimes while we are chanting, I sneak a peak around the room and can’t help but question whether these people, myself included, are honoring this phrase, or are we just singing it bc everyone else is around us and we’re just trying to fit in or feel good in the moment? What happens when we leave this studio? Who here is actually taking actions to exercise this mantra in reality? Why is or isn’t there diversity of the neighborhood in this room? How can we do better? What action will I take to make a positive difference? Actions speak greater than words and mantras alone. “Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?’ “ - Martin Luther King

The third Niyama is Tapas meaning self-discipline.
💥Tap is the root Sanskrit word meaning ‘to burn’, which we believe is intended to invoke a sense of fiery discipline or passion. 💥So if you come to my classes regularly you might experienced the pause in Samasthiti after some very warm sun salutations where I draw your attention to the heat you’ve created in your body. That burning energy is Tapas! 💥Just like a blacksmith heats the metal and uses forceful actions to cleans it, so we too can create this heat in ourselves to cleans ourselves, physically, emotionally and mentally.
💥Cleansing meaning to take what may be perceived as negative energy into a positive response. Such as thinking before you act, where you would have the discipline to respond to the situation rather than react, this pause takes our responses form unconscious to conscious. This can mean knowing when not to push yourself physically and when not to listen to the voices in your head.
💥If you would like a suggestion, try for one week (one month if you really want a challenge) to sit quietly on your mat (or just on the floor if you’re away from home) for 10 minutes EVERY DAY and see where your body and mind want to go in that time. This requires discipline. Some days you might mediate some days you might strengthen but to start with just get in the zone!
💥Tapas is to Manipura Chakra just above your belly button, so if you decide to come to one of my many classes I’ve got on this week you can expect core work to get that genki feeling! (Genki is a Japanese term meaning energy/ki/chi/healthy)

ICYMI: Regularly scheduled classes always $10 drop-in, because we love you and believe yoga should be affordable.
Getting handsy 😉: I was having a chat with D and other TT graduates on exploring foundation in poses especially the hands .We sent these videos to show that of what we are exploring. It is very encouraging to engage and share ideas. Thanks guys . Stay curious. .
Hand placement .
Having the proper placement and understanding of how to manipulate the surface area of the hands can significantly reduce the incidence of wrist injuries in your Yoga practice.
The way you use and position your hands while bearing weight on them makes a difference.
The fingers can be used has fine tuners for balance but not as an over gripping so they can respond and react.
The pinky packet of muscle is a much more natural connection into the shoulder blade.
The over gripping can weaken that connection. but it is a dynamic balance between gripping and softening constantly adjusting. @devonoftheocean
