Worry is such a weak emotion that it not only cripples you, it cripples the person you worry about. In the disguise of love, we project our harmful emotional energy on them. I am also a culprit of this. I worried so much about my husband riding a bike that he is not able to buy or even think of riding again and he was a really good rider. My constant worry made him doubt his own skills. I know many of you can relate to this. My father trusted my sister to ride a bike even when she was 16. And she rides really well. . . I know sometimes it is hard to trust a person whom we love more than necessary. Especially our children because they will continuously make mistakes but as you trust them more, their mistakes become less. . . Worry is rooted in a fact that we think that this person belongs to me, his or her life is part of my life. And we get overly attached. When we give God our trust, peace comes naturally to us and allows God to work in our lives. On the other hand when we hold on to our anxiety, we begin to change our lives based upon fears. We push away what God wants and do whatever we can to make ourselves feel better. God has called us to give Him our worries for a reason, for we werent made to hold on to them. Life will always throw unexpected events at us, but we need to take those events to God and know that no matter what He is in control. With that belief we stop our rash decision making and instead allow God to guide us in the right direction. God will always be there for us, no matter what is happening God can use EVERY situation to our benefit. Because of our relationship with Jesus we can ask and keep on asking and we can be sure we will receive what we ask for. Your joy will have no limits because your requests and God's answers have no limits. What if we were bold enough to ask for big things like our nation back under God? After 20 years of anxiety, hypochondria, weight battles and chronic worry I have decided to take charge of my life by starting again. I am blessed in so many ways. I have an amazing husband and my dream home (it might not be everyone's- but it's mine!), a job working with nice people. But I am still wasting my life spending hours researching diets and health, worrying about all sorts of things that don't deserve a second thought. I am wasting hours and hours each week obsessing about my weight and what is the 'right diet'. I weigh myself obsessively and even had a little cry in the toilets at work when I weighed myself and realised I am at my highest weight for many years (63.8kg) I am 5ft1. I then ate rubbish all day to comfort myself. I have spent the day having a bit of an epiphany. Life is so short, I am already over half way to 70, and I waste so much time on nothing. My friend and I couldn’t tell anyone because we had bunked off lessons and were in an alley behind our school! It was so cliche, he was wearing exactly what you’d expect, a, what I would now call a very chic traditional beige Mac, probably the real McCoy, hiding behind an all girls school! I was never easily offended so I remember laughing at his little todger ...... looking back it was quite horrifying! What if he’d taken great offence to my giggling! Are kids more prepared these days? I was definitely more concerned about what my father would do if he caught me bunking school 😬. Oh God please don’t let my kids be as naughty as I was! I didn’t know what worry was, I just thought my parents just needed to chill out! So what if I’m late for curfew while driving around in my boyfriends car when he’s had his licence a total of a week and his windows are so blacked out its a miracle he could see the road! Very often our anxiety cripples us because we stop to think about it. We see that person that we like across the room and we want to approach, yet we wait and our brain talks us out of it. We want to say what is really on our mind yet we let our brain start to talk to us, asking questions like "What if this is not the right thing to say" or "What if this person does not react positively to what I say?" We want to start on a project but we put it off and start to worry "What if it isn't perfect" (hint: there is no such thing as perfection) or "It's not the right time" What do all the above have in common? They all allow us to get in our heads and have less than positive talks with ourselves. Talking and analysing in our heads can be helpful in certain situations - making a big financial decision for example - but for something like "shall I talk to that person" or "shall I speak my mind" it cripples us. So the lesson here? Less talk and more action. This will not be easy but if you practice on a daily basis doing things that might make you feel uncomfortable then you will be taking that first step towards becoming less anxious. So think , where in your life have you been having an Internal conversation with yourself and how would your life change if you could shift that conversation into action?
