Nestor the Chronicler by Mark Antokolskiy. 1890. Detached from the world, he is totally concentrated on his work. His shoulders and back are bent in natural way, slim fingers are holding a pen, his old wrinkled face looks tired and deep in thought. He started living in monastery since age of 17. Being very educated man for those days (11-12 century) Nestor became the author of earliest East Slavic Chronicle. Small replica of the statue is exhibited in Taganrog Art Gallery. Marble big statue is exposed in Hermitage, St Petersburg, Russia.
