Ready for some vulnerability? Due to last weeks chaos, I was forced to miss a whole week of crossfit. It was ironic that it all occurred following a whole week full of Hero workouts in honor of 9/11. That thursday prior, I had pulled a muscle and was not happy to miss time at all. Let me tell you about crossfit.. it is hell, pure hell. It challenges you emotionally, physically, mentally.. it's you against you.. faith over fear. There's some days you walk out feeling like you are such a badass.. and there's some days you walk out wishing you didn't wait so long to get your life together. Either way, your here, I'm here. Together, alone, we got this. Fast forward to this week. My body, mind and heart are spent. Exhausted isn't the word, I have lived off of multiple cups of coffee everyday and honestly never feel like I get enough sleep. I'm spent. I'm depressed. I'm upset about everything. Today, after not being in the gym, I went. It was exactly what I needed. I am happy, I dealt with my emotions and everything weighing on my mind in my box. I sweat, I cursed, I did it. I left it there. It is worth it all and I am so in love with crossfit. It is the one part of my day that is about me and I love it. I'm thankful. Back at the gym after 2 weeks!!! Rowing never felt so good after the worse 2 weeks ever. I had crazy vertigo and couldn’t even walk sometimes. Glad it’s gone. I haven’t figured out why yet but hope it doesn’t come back. Also... still studying.... so much to learn.... #techie
Today ended my long weekend, and I celebrated with Grace! And I was able to PR from my previous attempt. Again, this is only my second attempt at doing the training session. I'm extremely intrigued it how I've progressed. Some of it could be because I sandbagged my first attempt just because I was a bit nervous about the training session. But I was still even able to cut almost 1:11 off of my time. Again I find myself fighting the concept I'm not as good as everybody else, but I'm better than I was. And I got to remind myself this is what's important. It's not about being better than anybody else. It's about being a better individual. Because everybody else isn't going to help me whenever there's crisis. And again all of this training is to help prepare the body for a time of crisis. When it actually really counts. When it is life-or-death. In a life-and-death situation you have to have all that you can give, have some in reserve, and have the ability to push beyond what you ever dreamed imaginable. There is so much at stake when it's life or death. You don't want to get tired and quit when your people need you the most. You need to be the best you can possibly be so that you can be there when they need. Adrenaline and stress response can only have an effect on what is already your Baseline. The better your Baseline, the better you are in crisis. If only I'd known a long time ago what I know now. So the goal is to continue to strive to be better. Not better than anybody else. But better than I was. This should always be the goal. The vast majority of motivation comes from anesthetic drive, but the true Drive is survival. If that's your primary focus, the Aesthetics will come. Become battle ready. Because you're only allowed one mistake and it can be costly. Hell, even if you don't want to do it for yourself, your motivation needs to be the people that have chosen to have you in their mist. That is when it really counts in life. Above and beyond all things. You could of had that one bad day. 3.
