I love food! I’m into health and fitness but I secretly have a deep admiration for all kinds of food especially sweets. Put a cupcake in front of me and watch as my emotions fluctuate...👀👅🤤😯🤭😕😒😔😭👀👀👀🤤🤤😒. Hahaha... the struggle is real.
But a much more real fact exists. All those foods that most of us crave and have drool sessions for are not always the best for us and not in our best interest.
I know all too well, someone you know walks in with a snack in hand offering you that golden nectar of sweetness/salty and you sadly have to put up your halt hand and say no.
You might want it so bad that sometimes you give in and ruin your diet for the day...ugh... now what?
Well for starters don’t be so hard on yourself. This is a journey not a jail sentence. If you really want something that bad, do have some, in moderation, but you must also be mindful of how much of what you are eating and how much activity you are doing throughout your day.
One thing I have learned is that it is not the end of the world and not a reason to stop trying and give up. But you must be mindful of your progress. People tend to flock to the foods that are not always the best and its due to programming and the dopamine levels that occur as a result of eating those foods because they create a feeling of comfort.
One thing you can do is to start connecting with your body and to eat mindfully. If you find yourself in a position where you are threatening your diet with “bad” food, stop for a moment and ask your body if it actually wants it or needs it. Will this food make a difference? You will be surprised to learn that your body will respond. If your body says no, move on and continue with your day. At the end you will feel so much better about yourself and your eating will be under your full control.
