Cheesin’ 🧀 so hard on this Monday. I absolutely love the feeling a new week brings. It’s an opportunity to set new intentions, goals and make myself proud. Even though I didn’t get my workout in this morning [still trying to kick this cold 🤧], I am excited to share a new recipe I made this weekend - parmesan cheese. 😋 I’ve been craving all sorts of cheeses recently, but my lactose intolerant 🐄 and IBD 💩 tummy would not appreciate me eating all that dairy. 🥛🍝🍕🍦 So behold, this delicious #vegan
version of parm cheese. Y’all, it is so good my mouth is already watering. 🤤 dEATs below:
➕ 3/4 C raw cashews
➕ 3/4 TBSP nutritional yeast
➕ 1/4 TSP garlic powder
➕ Dash of sea salt
Just blend those ingredients in a food processor for ~2 min or until cashews are all broken up and voilà! 🎉
Stays good in the fridge for several weeks!

Both are super healthy and nutritious, loaded with important nutrients, such as protein and vitamin D. caramel apple dip: add 8-10 de-pitted medjool dates into a food processor with 3 tbs full fat coconut milk (more or less based on texture preference), 1 teaspoon cinnamon and blend until smooth. 🤤

“Hangry” is so common it’s pretty much understood and felt by everyone. I was the queen of hangry. I always carried snacks with me and if I needed to eat, you needed to get out of my way.
What I came to understand is that hangry is a very serious condition called reactive hypoglycemia.
Reactive hypoglycemia is when you’ve eaten a meal (or snack) that dramatically spikes insulin. About an hour and a half later there’s an equally dramatic drop in blood sugar. The brain sees this as a threat (to survival because of lack of energy) and responds with a fight or flight response. Eating again seems like an absolute emergency because to the brain it is.
Here’s the important thing to understand. Reactive hypoglycemia causes all different symptoms like shakiness, anxiety, panic, fatigue, dizziness, sweating, and nausea. If this goes on every day over time (insert the Standard American Diet) you’ll can start to believe these REAL symptoms a psychiatric disorder. I know there are tons of people who have a diagnosis of anxiety or depression who have reactive hypoglycemia as a root problem.
The good news: YOU aren’t the problem. Your food choices are, and “hangry” is the brains emergency response telling you to switch what you’re eating. Freedom from the dreaded hanger is an absolute game changer.

starting next Monday, October 1st! It’s been 6 months since my last one and I’m feeling the need to do another round. I just feel SO much better when I eat that way and I want to do a full round to recommit myself to that lifestyle. Using this public post to help hold me accountable 😊

A big bowl of green goddess for lunch today 🍃💚 Shaved brussel sprouts and pear salad with a homemade Dijon vinaigrette dressing from @wholesomelicious.
Even though this recipe calls for raw brussel sprouts, I always sauté them because I think they taste better cooked. It’s also easier on the digestion!

One-pan Sausage and Veggies bake has minimal prep and a quick cooking time while being nutrient dense and delish! And talk about an easy clean up! It is totally on repeat at our house and there might be a really good chance I'll make it two times this week, or maybe three. 😋The best part of this meal is that you can totally switch it up with whatever veggies you like! One-pan sausage and veggies:
6 Chicken Sausages or Pork Sausage of choice cut in half length wise
1 red pepper
1 green pepper
chopped red onion (or veggies of choice )
Drizzle sausages with olive oil on a baking sheet and bake on 400 degrees for 10 min. Add veggies/salt and pepper and cook for another 15-20 min. It's that easy. ENJOY! #healthydinner #whole30 #paleo #easyhealtymeal #chattanooga #realfood #onepanmeal

except that damn chard came in a plastic bag. I'll definitely reuse it to the best of my abilities. Any suggestions on buying zero waste greens ar the market? Seems to me that every vendor bags their greens and refuses to reuse them when asked.
Also, why did I choose this bagged chard when I could've gotten bag-free chard at the store? Because I still believe buying local, from a small farmer making a small living off of his/her land is far more important than buying everything from a supermarket so the CEO can buy their third vacation home. Know what I'm sayin?

I think there’s one combo I will NEVER get tired of.. it’s like a match made in heaven & I think mostly everyone is on this train. CHOCOLATE & PEANUT BUTTER. no matter what it is.. cookies, cake, bars, etc. it’s always magic. I was craving this combo TOUGH this week & wanted to make something super rich & dreamy. So I decided to make another bar recipe, with a crunchy almond crust, super creamy chocolate cheesecake layer, a peanut butter layer, & a healthy drizzle of Pb “shell” & @eatingevolved
