I was fully prepared for a rainy day for this wedding. It had rained all day the day before and had been misty all morning.
But, the clouds cleared eventually and we got some awesome photos of the two in downtown Marfa 👌
This is a thank you letter.
I’ve been thinking lately about my dream to be a photographer as a profession and how that dream has, in fact, come true. If I had set out on this quest alone I have no doubt in my mind that I would have given up and quit a long long time ago. The only reason I’m still here and thriving in this business is because of the people that have helped me get here. Lots of people. But in particular, I want to highlight one person.
My husband. My guy. My fella. .
For the long weekends with double header weddings and week night portrait sessions that leave him home alone to fend for himself for dinner…several nights in a row. And for the times I’ve turned our living space into some kind of set up and had camera gear sprawled out all over our house for days on end. And for the times I had to invest in equipment and education. For the days I wake up editing full force and he finds me in the exact same spot when he comes home at the end of the day…still in my pajamas, hair unbrushed with that “I’ve been staring at this computer all day” crazed look in my eye. For the times I’ve rushed to get ready and head out the door on a Saturday morning for a wedding and leave a huge mess in my wake…only to come home that night and find everything pristine and in its place, laundry done, kitchen clean, and fridge restocked. .
You never complain. You never whine. You only support. You are kind. You are selfless. You encourage me when I’m exhausted. You inspire me. You fuel my dreams (even the crazy ones). You water me with your words: “You are amazing, you can do this, I’m so proud of you.” You love me big.
But most importantly, you are always always there. .
Thank you. A thousand times. A million times.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

a huge thank you to @jsparksphoto
for giving me the chance to second shoot my first wedding!! i had a blast and can't wait to work with you again (and dance like fools at the reception)
When you have the prettiest friends and they have the prettiest babies!!! 😍
When your friends have babies... it’s pretty much the best thing EVER! 😍 Wesson Paul is the cutest little man around!
“If I am lost, find me but do not ask me to come back just yet. Sit with me in this place and maybe you will understand why I come here too often, what draws me to my neverland. Find me, but bring me back when I am ready. Maybe you will get to know me a little better. Maybe we can get lost together.”
I’m a dreamer, I can’t help it.
It’s really cold, you guys. ❄️ (We are still going to have a fall right? We didn’t skip it?? 😜🍁🍂) At least the little life inside of this Momma is warm and cozy. ☺️ —- Up to my eyeballs in editing but I’m cranking it out. Gallery links going out soon. ☕️
When this cold weather hits you can expect without fail “cold weather food” cravings. My personal favorite is my mom’s homemade chicken pot pie. So good it’s sinful and your hips won’t thank you, but it’s seriously like a little piece of heaven. .
What’s your favorite cold weather meal? 😋 (now I’m hungry)
I think I need to get some newborns to visit me in the studio space soon... 😍
I’m so cold I can’t feel my toes. This chill came out of nowhere—Lubbock’s unpredictability can be a nuisance, but I can’t even lie...I am loving this weather, numb toes and all.
can we all still live together when y'all are married?
She was one of the rare ones, so effortlessly herself, and the world loved her for it. -A.T.
I only have a few dates left for 2018! Contact me to reserve your date.
The last sunrise of our West Texas photo workshop was another incredibly moody one. We always love this location because of the layers of rolling hills and the way the light fills the canyon. However, this particular morning was about the colors, swift clouds, rain, and lightning. Today we said goodbye to Big Bend and head towards Austin for our next workshop!
I have a few best friends that I’ve known for yeeeaars!!!!! I treasure those relationships so much❤️❤️. So I grabbed my daughter’s best friend and they did a super super mini shoot! The wind was howling 🌬 and it was very cold for us Texans! I would pick the eve a cold front was blowing in 🙄🙄! They were troopers and had so much fun!
I want to tell you something. Are you ready? Really listen for a second.
Did you know that you were not made to be average? It’s true. You were made to do amazing things. We all are created to do amazing things, but it’s up to us to take those actions of being great.
This weekend I was at a Christian goal-setting conference in Ft. Worth, Texas. The last thing our speaker, @terrisavellefoy
spoke on was how a smile is so contagious and has an impact on people in a super amazing way.
When you flash a smile at someone, it gives them a boost of confidence. It tells that person they are important.
A smile expresses confidence in your body language. When you smile, it makes you feel better and it's contagious.
How does it make you feel when someone smiles at you?
“Time stands still best in moments that look suspiciously like ordinary life.”
I sure do love this sweet little family. That’s a whole lot of genuine kindness and joy in one simple picture.
Had a blast on my weekend adventure to far west Texas!
