Magnesium deficiency is becoming increasingly common as a result of a highly processed modern diet, soil depletion and lifestyle changes. In the UK Government's recent National Diet and Nutrition Survey, magnesium was found to now represent the biggest decline of all nutrients. In a government funded report by Professor David Thomas, research showed that levels of magnesium in the diet had fallen by 21% since 1940. Olhou bem nos meus olhos, deu uma bela espreguiçada. Ajeitou-se na poltrona e fechou os olhos de novo. Eu estava tão cansada que pensei: tudo o que queria agora era ser esse gato. Afinal eu estava emendando trabalho, curso, aniversário do meu irmão, encontro profissional e mais um curso sem uma pausinha mínima para final de semana. Bem, eu gosto de estar com as pessoas queridas, gosto de estudar e gosto de trabalhar, então não é raro eu perder a mão e ficar sem tempo para respirar. Djoco, o gato, respirava puxando o ar até a barriga e exalava o fôlego bem comprido, do mesmo jeito que tantos estudos científicos dizem que é bom para relaxar: com essa respiração abdominal a gente estimula um nervo chamado Vago e ele libera as substâncias responsáveis pelo relaxamento dos nossos músculos e pela sensação de bem-estar. De tempos em tempos ele espreguiçava, se ajeitava e de novo caía em sono tranquilo. De ficar ali observando, em silêncio, meu corpo foi relaxando com ele. Bocejei várias vezes, daqueles bocejos em que as lágrimas escorrem gordas dos olhos. Passado certo tempo, Djoco abriu os olhos. Eu estava com uma bolinha de guardanapo usado na mão e ele logo supôs ser um brinquedo. Muito atento, acompanhava ligeiro com a cabeça quando eu balançava a bolinha de um lado ao outro e correu imediatamente quando arremessei o papel, disposto a cumprir sua natureza caçadora de gato, o que fez com precisão e maestria. Acabado o “trabalho”, de novo espreguiçou manhoso e se posicionou para mais um cochilo, patas ao alto, barriga branquinha e sedosa pronta para um carinho, cabeça torta escondendo os olhos da luz. High protein and vegetables diner for healthy weight loss: 1. The easiest, healthiest and fastest way to lose extra weight is to aim for a low carb diner 2. You can still eat carbs, but do so for breakfast and lunch: chose whole grains that are richer in fiber than refined (white) grains that leave you bloated 3. Prefer cruciferous vegetables & get creative: make cauliflower rice, brocoli and carrot purée, toss and chop vegetables and throw them in the oven 4. Lean proteins, low in animal fat, are preferable for both weight and health management 5. Tip: if you like eating pasta at night: make your favorite pasta sauce and replace the pasta with either chickpea, lentil or quinoa pasta (high in proteins, low in carbohydrates) 6. You can also make pasta sauce and replace pasta with steamed vegetables. 7. If you are craving something sweet: go for a little protein shake (oat milk + 1/2 a scoop of vanilla or chocolate whey or vegan powder) & add some berries

We have to learn to give ourselves a break sometimes. So often we shrink ourselves due to “agreements” we’ve accepted from other people. Truth is if you’ve done the work, you’ve realized the lesson, and you can release yourself from that old tie/connection. You are better, and it’s ok to embrace that. We have to stop looking at our progress as if it could offend someone, if growing offends the people around you, you have outgrown those people. Never stunt your growth trying to fit into a box someone said you had to be in. Your past in no way defines your future. You are NOT TIED to anything that has put a label on you. RELEASE THESE AGREEMENTS!! Be gentle with yourself, and know you can create what you desire. With growth you see things in a different light and it’s absolutely ok to feed people/situations/whatever with a long handled spoon to honor yourself and your growth. You are not your past, you have control of your future. Say this daily, let go of the labels, and level up! Made it to an *actual class at an actual studio* this morning for the first time in a long time. (I do solo home practice 95% of the time since becoming a parent.) And you know what? I remembered. I remembered why the collective breath is a lullaby and why the quality of light coming through the windows matters and why the final thrumming OMMM is so magical after all that wringing-out and turning-in and quieting-down. It was so perfect. After 15 years of practice — yoga, you just get better. Thank you. ❤️
