This week has been an interesting one. Mike had nasal surgery in Monday and it was a success (we hope) but we were in no way prepared for how challenging his recovery was going to be 😬
He actually just came home today after spending the last three nights at his parents house where he could attempt to rest and try not to overdue it. If you know Mike, you know he can’t still still for the life of him so in addition to being uncomfortable, he’s also been bored. out. of. his. mind 😑
Without a whole lot of mental prep, I went in to full-on single parent mode (side note - giving major, major props to the single moms and dads out there 🙌). Between the kids’ schedules and trying to keep up with my work, the house, keeping the dog alive, and attempting to take care of myself, sh*t had the potential to get pretty crazy around here. Want to know the craziest part of it all?! The kids and I have been FINE! We all survived and had a really good few days together.
A few things I learned (or had reinforced) this week 👇
1. I’m capable. Like really capable. I don’t give myself enough credit for my ability to thrive in the crazy and I was able to do that this week.
2. Planning ahead is life 🙌 We set out clothes, prepped lunches and I even parted ways with my @chemex
to use a regular old coffee pot where I could just press a button in the morning 🤯 #mindblown
3. HGTV has a lot of good shows on late night. I’m a scaredy-cat so the TV (and most lights) stayed in all night 😬
4. I can still fit in “me” time even on the busiest days. I got my ass on my @one.peloton
bike each day and even PR’d yesterday 👌
4. Peace and Forgive are my jam when I’m feeling stretched emotionally. I put 3 drops of each in the diffuser each night and instantly felt myself relax and unwind. If you aren’t using oils for emotional support and balance, I’m sorry 🤣 Kidding!

I had a bit of a wobble 🙈.
Guys, I need to be honest with you - I had a bit of a wobbly moment with “Soul Food” 🌸☕️ this week. And it really made me want to run away and hide in a little tiny hidey hole never to be found again - noooooo!!!
But as always, there is a lesson to be learnt from those tricky moments, and I wanted to be open and share it with you... 💖
On Tuesday evening I was sat in our hostel in Vancouver, tip tapping away putting the final touches to the next edition of “Soul Food” that I had been SO SO excited to share!!
And then I just as I was about to bring the email to a close and press send, I felt a little rumble of worry start in the back of my mind. I suddenly started questioning whether doing this email was the right thing, was I using the best format? Is it too long? Will people find it useful? How am I going to manage this?
I also had some vulnerability fear. Was I oversharing? Who did I even think I was to start writing an email blog anyway?!!
Oh jeez. I felt overwhelmed and panicked.
I felt deflated and defeated, I didn’t know if i should just pack it in there and then.
But then I realised that really, this moment was the EXACT REASON why I’d wanted to do this in the first place. To show that facing up to your fears really isn’t easy, it takes guts, grit, determination and you have to KEEP PUTTING IN THE WORK to overcome them!!
I took a step back to think about what the impact would be not only on myself but others if I did not overcome this fear and continue to share my story...

Can you relate? 💑 "I feel like my husband resents the changes that he has had to make to his life because of what has happened to me, he seems to get angry at things that never would have bothered him before" 😔
I asked this client to consider that her husband may be grieving the loss of the life they once had. That his anger is a sign of grief and feelings of helplessness. Suggesting ways in which she could talk to her husband. To find out exactly how someone is feeling instead of presuming is a very important topic I tackle with clients. 💕
Often clients presume they know how their partner is feeling or what they want. But experience shows when you take the time to ask and find out it man be completely different. And once you know, you can work together to make situations better for you both.
