About 5-6 years ago I was hovering between 175 and 200 lbs. I carried this weight like it was my personal failing, because I was convinced that was how other people saw it. I felt like I had no control over my body and even less over my life. Situational depression was just the next logical step. . The biggest thing I hear from my patients (aside from, can you help me?) is that they are tired of constantly thinking about their weight, what they eat and judgements about their self worth and body size. I vividly remember how exhausting this is. It leaves very little time and energy to be who you truly ARE. . What I have come to realize in working with metabolic & weight loss patients is that E.V.E.R.Y. B.O.D.Y. is so different. Two metabolisms are like two unique snowflakes. What a metabolism, and the person connected to that metabolism, DOESN'T need is being told that they are damaged if they don't conform to the typical path of weight loss. Because that is untrue. . Weight loss for many of us may be a life long consideration; we have genetic tendencies that make our path less linear, but it need not be a full out war with our bodies and our fat cells. So much of our metabolism is modifiable as long as we are LISTENING TO IT; each one sings a song that gives you the clues to how to treat it.

On a long bus trip today which includes lunch at Miller’s Smorgasbord which is an unbelievable buffet I’m going to eat yogurt with peanut flour, a banana and granola for breakfast. Later this morning I’ll have fruit salad. I plan to arrive at the buffet not hungry. I plan to eat veggies and protein and possibly 1 piece of iced raisin bread as a treat. The remaining snacks are for the ride home. I expect to be gone at least 18 hours. Here is a quote I usually hear not long after starting to help someone lose weight and change shape... “If I knew there wasn’t as much as thought involved with making progress, I would have started way, way sooner!” I have written about it before you don’t need the perfect lifestyle to make progress. Yes you are incredibly busy, so aim for habit changes that don’t take much time or thought. I know you are great at planning what your children are going to eat, but maybe not so good when it comes to you. I bet your mornings are hectic, getting everyone ready and fed, not enough time for you, how many times has it got to mid morning and you see what’s in the picture, if you are really hungry and by know your body is screaming “give me sugar! Then you end up consuming more calories than you would other wise, if you can plan to not be hungry. Have things you can throw together at breakfast or take with you, any kind of planning will help, what ever you get chance to do. I know one Mum I help keeps healthy snacks for her in her hand bag. I promise it will help, when faced with a scenario in the picture, you will find it easier to make a choice, so if you can use just a few seconds to think of you. So, I’ve been having a great week on the road, even though my phone took a sh🖕🏼t! Lol, I hired a girl last week and we started training this week, so my little company is growing! . Also, I packed all Keto-budget-friendly-food and drinks for this week long trip, and have stuck to my diet! I won my diet bet yesterday ($49 to me!) and am down about 10 lbs in the last 3 weeks (total)!!! And yes, I actually packed my scale so I could weigh-in even though I was out of town 😂 . I’m hoping to fit into my wedding dress when I get back so I can get it altered! . ✨HAPPY FRIDAY 🍋🍉 💭 I work this weekend and have a ton of coursework to do but I’m still in a good mood! It’s really insane how taking care of yourself & not overeating affects your mood and energy... It’s science, of course, but it blows me away!😱 💭 I also have, earlier than I expected, gotten back down to pre-vacation weight. It sort of reminds me of the conventional #Nigerian plating where the carbohydrate source gets the major plate allocation and the protein source has to scramble to find a tiny bit of space and is sometimes thrown in as an afterthought. . . . Picture the typical big plate of rice and stew with one,(or maybe two?) teeny weeny piece of meat or fish. . . . Incorporating good amounts of quality protein in your meals is a game changer when it comes to #weightloss . . . . Protein reduces your hunger levels thereby helping you consume fewer calories in a day and also boosts your metabolism due to its thermic effect causing increased energy expenditure. Your body burns more calories digesting and metabolizing proteins than it does for carbs and fats. . . . More good news... Eating good amounts of protein helps to reduce cravings and the desire for incessant snacking( especially at night). And don't forget that a protein rich diet helps you build muscle. My first #rawrecipe is #overnightchiaoats . This was almost too easy so i hope it turns out good. I didnt have any almond milk so i used regular 2% this time. Also we had the one minute oats but i think old fashioned are best. Heres the recipe. 1. Mash a ripe banana 2. See the juices it released? 3. Add 1/3 cup regular oats 4. Add 2/3 cup milk of your choice 5. Add w tablespoons of chia seeds 6. Add 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 7. Mix, cover overnight in refridgerator, and enjoy! Ok i feel like this post is neccessary. This is my life, not yours. This is my #weightlossjourney , not anyone elses. Yes i am frustrated, but moreso because i am trying to lose weight doing it how i see evryone else. today in my frustration i realized this. I am in pain (probably due to my weight), my father is very sick all the time, i have just moved to a new city, plus im always traveling. THESE ARE NOT EXCUSES, THESE ARE MY CIRCUMSTANCES!!! Referring to them as excuses only makes me feel like im constantly failing. So instead, i have realized im going to have to tailor weight loss tactics according to my lifestyle. im at a restaurant right now, so im going to order healthy and just do my best. Im in pain but i cant just sit on my butt. Im going to google my options. I see my life slipping away so i cant stay where i am. I truly feel its life or death.
