Here’s what I’ve got coming this week from @realhomechef (I had $40 in credit so I only paid $10 for this box!) I am looking forward to this box, because Home Chef has “simpler” recipes but they’re just as tasty. To me, these are more like the recipes you’d find on Pinterest (without having to buy all the ingredients first). Their quality is just as good as my normal #hellofresh box, the difficulty of the recipe is really the only difference to me. Habit building by @johnjvfit - Hello 😊 I wanted to tell you, that no matter how great a way counting calories is for losing weight, and slimming down and dropping your belly fat, there always more than one ways to skin the proverbial cat. You see, habits are one of those other things, and they work wonders, especially for people who a tiny wee bit more to lose. And to be 100% honest, bad habits are what brought you here so picking up healthy ones will help you lose weight. Let me share a little bit of a secret with you. It’s not a secret secret. But it works like a charm, so we will call it a hack. My hack. And I hope it will become your hack as well. Pick 2 habits and start implementing them now. Not tomorrow, now. It doesn’t matter if it’s noon, or midnight or whatever, GO. Do those for a week, no matter how hard or easy they look. Once you do them for a while they’re gonna become really easy anyway. After a week pick 2 more, and stack them on top of your previous 2. So now you have 4 habits, only the first two are already ingrained in your mind so they require a lot less willpower to do. Keep it up until you have all the habits down and running. But just because I said I was going to give you one hack, it doesn’t mean I’m done. I love to overdeliver because I care about you. I want you to go and buy a calendar, the one that is big enough to hang on the wall and has big enough spaces to write tasks in each day. Hang it on the wall, and in each day’s square write all the habits you did. Once you establish a chain of successful habits, breaking it will be less likely. I call this The Habit Success Chain. BASE- 3/4 cup pecans 1/4 cup cacao 1 Tbsp coconut flour 1/4 cup shredded coconut 2 Tbsp bukinis 1/2 cup dates, soaked Pinch salt . . FILLING- 1 cup cashews, soaked for 4 hours 1/4 cup rice malt syrup 2 Tbsp @unicornsuperfoods tropicana powder 1/2 cup coconut cream 1 cup canned pineapple 1/4 cup cacao butter, melted Pinch salt . . Fresh passion fruit for topping . METHOD- 1) Bring together your first 5 base ingredients and blend in a food processor until evenly broken up 2) Add in your soaked dates and blend again until completely combined. Your mixture should be sticky between your fingers & hold together. Press your mixture into your chosen cake tin 3) Melt your cacao butter over a hot water bath (in a bowl over a saucepan with hot water) Set aside to cool once melted 4) Combine all of your filling ingredients except for the cacao butter in a blender & blend until completely smooth, add in your cacao butter & blend again. Favorite quick dinner or side dish idea: oven roasted pumpkin wedges with arugula avocado dip 🥑 • 1 Hokkaido pumpkin 4 tbsp olive oil 1 tbsp arrabbiata spice blend Salt & pepper For the dip: 1 ripe avocado Handful of arugula 1 garlic clove 1 tsp lemon juice 2 tbsp pumpkin seed oil 2 tbsp pumpkin seeds Salt & pepper • Cut the pumpkin into wedges and mix with the olive oil and spices. Spread on a baking sheet and bake at 350f/200c for 25-30 minutes. Blend the avocado, pumpkin seed oil, arugula and lemon juice. Toast the pumpkin seeds in a skillet and add to the dip. INGREDIENTS  1 lb. medium shrimp (wild), peeled and de-veined  2 tsp. ground cumin  Juice of 1 lime 2 tbsp. freshly chopped cilantro, plus more for garnish 2 cloves garlic, minced  3 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, divided  Kosher salt  Freshly ground black pepper Romaine lettuce, for serving 1 avocado, thinly sliced  1/4 c. Sour cream, for serving  DIRECTIONS 1. In a large bowl, stir together shrimp, cumin, lime juice, cilantro, garlic, and 2 tablespoons oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss until combined, then let marinate in the fridge 10 minutes. 2. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat remaining tablespoon oil. Add shrimp and marinade cook until pink, 2 minutes per side. 3. Who knew what would unravel in 2018! Having grown up for the majority of my life overweight, I always searched for a “quick fix” a quick way to lose weight - all of which failed because each and every fix wasn’t sustainable. Looking back over the past 12 months I realise just how quick and short one year is, highlighted through how much I have changed both physically and mentally. I didn’t use a recipe but here’s what I did: seasoned a 3 lb roast with salt & pepper. Seared it in a large pan in couple teaspoons of evoo. Added roast to slow cooker with approx 1/2 cup beef broth. Cooked 5 hours on high (9-10 low). Was craving some comforting food on this #meatlessmonday as we are experiencing some seriously cold weather. 🥶 . . Tonight was the night of experiments. First, I decided to make some vegan meatballs. Then I decided to cook them using our very new air fryer. I was happy with the vegan meatballs but I was super impressed with the air fryer. I did not use any oil because I had some olive oil in my recipe already. It took a total of 15 minutes in the air fryer and then I transferred them over to my pan of red curry sauce. I served them over some brown rice we had left over. . . I will make these again to perfect the recipe. I’d like to serve them over cauliflower rice next time. If there’s one veggie I use often and find most versatile it’s definitely zucchini! Here we have some oven baked zucchini fries. Some are coated in almond flour, spices and parm and some just have a sprinkle of cheese. . . . Preheat oven to 400° Mix equal parts almond flour and parmesan cheese (the shaker kind) add a little garlic powder, parsley and paprika. Dredge the zucchini slices in egg and then the almond mixture. Sprinkle some cheese over any extra zucchini slices and bake for 15 min or until crispy. Dip in fave dip, I like these with ranch! You can also do this with pickles, a real game changer!

🔥HOW LACK OF SLEEP EFFECTS YOUR WEIGHT LOSS. ▫️ We all live pretty busy schedules and there are times that when something needs to be cut out so that we can get more accomplished, sleep is the first to go. But could not sleeping enough be the reason you’re not losing weight? It could be! And here’s why. ▫️ It’s not so much that when you sleep you lose weight, but it’s what happens if you don’t get enough sleep that gets you in trouble. If you’re sleep deprived, your metabolism isn’t going to be as efficient. Also, with lack of sleep comes an increase in cortisol, leptin, and ghrelin levels which are hormones in our bodies that control hunger, appetite, and fullness. This alone is a problem due to the obvious reason of over eating. Another reason lack of sleep can be hurting your weight loss progress is because if you’re tired, there’s a much greater chance you’re not going to make it to the gym early in the morning or after a long day at work. ▫️ So to enhance your progress in your weight loss journey, try to shoot for at least 7 quality hours of sleep a night. This will help increase your metabolism, decrease hunger and cravings, and allow you to have enough energy to make sure you get your workouts in.

These delicious steak pinwheel rolls are tender and cheesy and make a delicious low-carb dinner!👊🏻 - Ingredients 1 lb. flank steak butterflied 2 tablespoons oil ½ cup onion chopped 3-4 cloves garlic minced or crushed 4 ounces cream cheese 8 ounces sliced Provolone cheese or mozzarella or your favorite melting cheese 2 cups baby spinach Salt and pepper to taste Instructions Preheat oven to 375F degrees. Butterfly Steak by slicing horizontally across and pounding. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside. Heat 2 tablespoons oil to a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook for 2-3 minutes or until tender and almost golden. Add the garlic and sautee for another minute. Remove from and stir in cream cheese until fully combined. Season with salt and pepper. Spread the cream cheese mixture on the steak, then layer the spinach and cheese. Roll up steak and tie with kitchen twine or pierce with toothpicks or short kabob skewers to keep the roll intact. Using a sharp knife, slice roll between pieces of toothpicks or twine. Season pinwheels lightly with salt and black pepper. Heat a large heavy-duty pan to medium-high heat. Add the steak pinwheels and sear for 2-3 minutes per side. Transfer to a baking dish or place the entire pan in the oven if it is oven safe, and bake for 10 minutes.
