TODAY WENT SO FAST, no wait.... this WHOLE year went so fast . Do you find your life is just flying by SO DAMN FAST. The end of the year always makes me think deeply about what is I would like to achieve next year, new beginnings, clarity and opportunities are just around the corner. I spend this year brewing a baby and learning the ropes, it’s been fun but I’m ready to take on some new challenges, embrace some new family dynamics and most importantly help as many others with their health that I can . Do you have any pics, old or new, that HAUNT you?? This pic on the left is one of mine. It was taken years ago on a family vacation to Myrtle Beach. My dad loves to take candid pics when the subject isn’t looking… And clearly he isn’t concerned about finding the most flattering angles! I knew I had gained some weight and was feeling uncomfortable but this picture was a real eye-opener. I didn’t even know this pic was taken until I saw my mom‘s photos weeks later. I immediately stole it so no one would ever see it! I didn’t even recognize the girl in the picture. . So, why am I showing it to you now? Because I know how frustrating it is to try everything. I know you are afraid it will just be another thing that doesn’t work. I know you are afraid of letting yourself down. But if that girl on the left can do it, so can you sister! . Fast forward 12 years and I have changed and been through A LOT - became a mom, changed careers, lost 3 babies, taken amazing trips, struggled with depression, moved to a new city and more.... but a lot is the same, too. I still LOVE a good dive bar, enjoy friends and family, enjoy a fun night out, know all the best wing and burger places in town and stay up too late more often than I should. What if I told you that you can feel confident and comfortable in your own skin without leaving all the fun behind? What if I told you that you could get fit without spending hours at the gym? hello everyone, my name is Lina Marie and I am 23 years old. I’ve been overweight for most of my life and struggled with losing weight for years now. On October 25th, I had a wake up call. 🍟Stop eating when full. - 🍟This is where I always got into trouble. If I had taken this advice during my teenage years I would have.. no no. I would still be obese. But perhaps I wouldn't have crossed over to morbidly obese territory. - 🍟"Stop eating when you're full." I've actually heard that so many times growing up that it feels a bit cliche. I remember thinking once during my morbidly obese days, "Right, so if I just stop eating when I feel full I'm gonna lose weight? What a joke." - 🍟Funny thing is, for my case I think that's the advice would have stood true. - 🍟A while back I observed how quickly I felt full. To my surprise, it didn't take a lot food for me to start feeling full. It's just I always want to push it to the extreme, and feel that ultimate stuffed feeling that gets me in trouble. - 🍟I'm usually decently satisfied and full off of a normal meal. Say a McDonalds meal, burger, fries and coke. I feel good off of that. Where I get in trouble is when I still go for the nuggets, and the sundae, and maybe double up on the fries cos it's so good with ketchup. - 🍟If I replaced the coke with water, a burger and fries is around 700kcal at best. 3 meals a day that's only 2100kcal. That's around my current TDEE -50kg lighter than before. I'm sure my TDEE was higher during my morbidly obese days. Which would have meant if I stopped at full, and kept it up consistently. There was a good chance I would have just maintained or lost weight. - 🍟"Stop eating when you're full" I feel is a great gauge to get a super rough idea of how much you've ate without any calculations. Good old natural instinct. Sure it's inaccurate, but it's a good warning sign "Hey, you're full buddy. You sure you still gonna go for ice cream?" - 🍟Of course, this would mean you have to be 100% honest. I know I struggle with that. A lot of times I know I'm full, but somehow I'll convince myself 'one more bite' because I'm not REALLY full. It's.. it's really a train wreck. I think I still have the tendency to do that if I"m not careful. - 🍟What CAN"T you stop eating once you start?
3 AB Tips You Were Never Taught😱 _ BREATHING✅- In order to maximally work your abs you need to understand how to sync your diaphragm breathing with your movements. In this case, you should be exhaling air from your diaphragm before initiating your ab contraction. This will allow for a more maximal contraction💪. For instance💢- If you are performing ball sit-ups, exhale your air before beginning the sit-up. If you are not properly breathing from your diaphragm to begin with, start to add some diaphragm breathing drills to your routine. You can even do these at home. _ AB ACTIVATION✅- One of the main reasons people struggle to build their abs is because of their ❌inability to activate the abs. You should be able to squeeze your abs as easily as you can squeeze your bicep💪. If you cannot, you need to work on an activation before aimlessly doing 100 crunches. Work on isomeric holds like hollow holds, or even just holding in the contracted position of a sit-up. Squeeze your abs HARD for 3-5 seconds, then repeat. This will better develop your mind-muscle connection with your abs. _ DEADLIFT✅- A lot of people today struggle with a weak posterior chain which leads to an anterior pelvic tilt (hips tilt forward). When this happens, the ab muscles become long & weak. ❌You cannot efficiently work your abs when they are fixated in a lengthened position. SO - strengthening your deadlift (and all movements that work the posterior chain) will help to bring those hips back to a normal alignment, allowing you to work your abs maximally. Posted @withrepost@danisweightlossjrny I got to celebrate loosing 150lbs in New York this weekend! (Not the reason we went but whatevs) 🎉🗽🏙 . . . . I didn’t realize how different it is to travel not being obese. 1) the plane ride was so much more comfortable/less terrible when you’re not crammed in that seat touching the stranger next to you or worrying about the seat belt not fitting. 2) being able to keep up with everyone in terms of waking around. We did about 20k steps a day, something I wouldn’t have been able to do at my heaviest. I got to fully enjoy the trip and see everything without having to rest. (Though I complained all weekend bc it was fucking freezing 😂) 3) just being so much more comfortable with your body it takes so many of those “are people staring at me??” “Everyone here is so skinny and good looking I stick out like a sore thumb” anxieties I always have had when traveling Let me say it for the millionth fucking time but it’s so much more about the number on the scale! I was able to enjoy the trip that much more bc I’m HEALTHIER not just a smaller size! *BANANA CHOCOLATE CHIP MUFFINS* by @themealprepmanual #repost @topgymtips #regrann ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I haven't posted any food related topics in a while and came across this amazing recipe that I thought would help others stay on track with their fitness goals, not to mention that it is only 100 calories, whoa... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins. Gluten free, grain free, almost added sugar free (the chocolate chips have some). These are one of my favorite sweet treats to make. They are super easy and a great way to use up some old bananas 🍌 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ All you have to do to make these muffins is throw all the ingredients minus the chocolate chips in a blender and pour it in a muffin tin. Top with a few chocolate chips. Bake at 400F for 8 minutes. Each muffin has around 100 calories if you make 24 of them. A lot of these calories come from the peanut butter. You could certainly get creative and come up with some ways to reduce the amount of peanut butter if you are interested in being more calorie conscious. There are other nut/seed butters that are lower calorie but more expensive. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Give these a try next time you have some bananas that are about to go bad. Make sure you understand that while these use healthier ingredients they are still very easy to overeat. You need to be cautious you stay within your goals. Because they are mini muffins, it is super easy to just pop them in your mouth mindlessly. Just because they use bananas and peanut butter as the main ingredients doesn’t make them “healthy”. This may be too much information for some, but I am #daringgreatly and sharing for those who struggle also This week I gained. And I am totally ok with it because I started my period What kind of non-scale victory is this? Well, for the last 2 years I have only had my period about 5 times. This was a huge sign that my body was trying to communicate to me The most natural thing a women’s body should do and my body said “I can’t” I would joke and tell everyone I was a boy. 2nd workout of the day with trainer @wesquez at @gshouseofboxing Wes had me walk for 3hrs straight. A little disappointed for not hitting the 10mi but hey I hit 9.7mi in 3hrs flat. To me that is one heck of an accomplishment. I remember when I first started with Wes and he would have me walk, I’d give him a hard time because I hated walking! Like no joke I hated it because if it wasn’t my knee hurting, it was my lower back, but now I feel great walking. I don’t mind it at all. Heck I even ask him if I can walk. It’s all about consistency and dedication and an awesome trainer to help you along the way!!
