This morning I ran in loving memory of my friend Nicole... for her fight, strength, and heart. Nic’s story is why I #riseup
against Addiction and will continue to help my friends, their families, and all individuals who deserve to believe their worth and future is so much more than this disease.
I think about Nic everyday and do my best to get through moments when missing her is a pain that blindsides me.
More times than I can count though, Nicole would say “Whit. You’re meant for big things in life girl. You’re gonna get the hell out of this town one day and find out why, I promise you!” Replaying that promise in my mind while having New York City in my sight, I now see my opportunity here and no longer need to search. To know I found a friend in life who saw my fire and knew the lengths I’d have to go to wake up one day and see my purpose has formed a loyalty in me that is stronger than the pain of missing her. Nicole is a perfect example of how your influence has the ability to help change lives. To have her by my side was a gift, I just had no idea the lesson she was teaching me with it.
That is... we have to go through our own wars to really appreciate the love poured into us from others. To rise back up... believe in a freedom that’s ahead, make a decision to change ourselves for the better and teach this lesson to someone else. That’s one of the greatest gifts. I’m grateful to know that through her spirit, it’s one I’m able to keep on giving. Love you Nic. ❤️🌻🦄🌈❤️ #foreverwithme #riseup #riseupagainstaddiction #walkitout #nyc #notonemore @beautifuldisaster2588
