One of my favourite birds, who was surprisingly unpleasant to work on. Completely fell apart when skinning and was as ‘dirty’ as this profession can get for all manner of reasons. I kept this bird in the freezer for a very long time, carefully wrapped. Over the years, I would often open the freezer and look at the package, but didn’t have the confidence to mount it. I was commissioned to mount one a while back, but turned the job down as I didn’t feel I would do service to the bird at that time, and didn’t want to not do it justice.
I am so so pleased to have found the courage to mount him, and he will take centre stage at my upcoming stand at the @theotherartfair.
Also, here is a photograph of me awkwardly encroaching on some Crowned pigeons whilst they desperately run away from me. #unrequited
