Years ago I was sent as an trainee of a Munich newspaper to an out-date, in which one of the most famous nightlife-makers of Munich presented a project. I was evidently the youngest and knew no one. Before we started, I noticed a man with long unkempt hair and torn jeans; he really looked like a bum. I asked someone who the figure was. It was the man who had loaded 😳 I had never seen him before. The project, or rather the vision he had, surprised me even more. The club hall mogul spoke of photovoltaic systems and cooperation in Africa - he was far ahead of his time and me ... Vlothes make just no people, what I see from time to time in one direction or another. Vor Jahren wurde ich als Praktikantin einer Münchner Zeitung zu einem Termin geschickt, bei dem einer der bekanntesten Nightlife-Macher Münchens ein Projekt vorstellte. Ich war augenscheinlich die Jüngste und kannte niemanden. Bevor es losging, fiel mir ein Mann mit langen ungepflegten Haaren und zerrissenen Jeans auf; er sah wirklich aus wie ein Penner. Ich fragte jemanden, wer denn die Gestalt sei?! Es war der Mann, der geladen hatte 😳 Ich hatte ihn vorher noch nie gesehen. Today’s assignment is to tell about an experience that forced me out of my comfort zone and challenged me to change my opinion or perspective. . . This challenge is an excellent example of such an experience. I’ve been doing yoga challenges on instagram for a while and I have always been a quiet participant. I rarely give any additional commentary other than the challenge info. It makes me slightly squeamish to share my thoughts, fears and dreams with the world 😬. Perception. I love this prompt and I bring it up often when I am teaching a Yoga class, and that’s changing your; I HAVE to, into, I GET to. So, instead of saying “I have to go to work today” or “I have to go grocery shopping” or “I have to get to the gym today” or “I have to put the kids to bed”, etc....Instead, say “I GET to, go to work and make money” or “I GET to, go buy groceries for my family” or “I GET to, get a workout in today” or “I GET to, spend special time with my kids every night”. You’re practically saying the same thing just cutting the negative energetic cord from it and making it positive. (The law of attraction remember? Like attracts like). This is one of the simplest ways to begin a gratitude practice. So? Binding like in this pose Utthita Parsvakonasana - extended side angle - can facilitate more depth in the Asana. Now for lots of students this may be really challenging as you need a certain level of flexibility (and longer arms can also help!) but it can be something you work towards, layering on depth as you go. In my classes I offer different variations of poses so you can experience it whether you are a beginner or a more experienced yogi. Could I have done this a few years ago? Hell no! May 2017: I was launched out of my comfort zone... like, blasted from it. • I discovered that I was pregnant... this had not been part of my plans or indeed was ever going to be part of my plans... • I had just started my yoga business and had completed SUP training and had a long list of things that I was supposed to be doing other than growing a baby. • Still, I couldn’t have asked for a better time to get pregnant. Happy Wednesday, all!! Worked a long day, and now snuggled in with my little Bug. 😊 She is still recovering well from her surgery, and I think relishing that she’s eating canned food. 😂💕🐾 I did try one time wetting her dry food, but worried that it wasn’t really soft enough, so canned food continues. 😊 Tomorrow for for #alowinterwarriors we have side angle, and this modification is exactly what my body needs post injury. 😊 Allows me to focus on that wonderful side body stretch! Today’s writing prompt is: what’s an instance where you were forced out of your comfort zone and required to open your mind or shift your perspective? I think daily my job requires so much of this! The pharmacist job I have right now is heavily focused on clinical medication review and patient counseling. Every patient I talk to is different, so I’m always needing to assess what they specifically need. I know what the guidelines and literature says, but there a lot of patient specific factors that are taken into consideration as well. That’s the open mind part. And sometimes I need to give them tough love and instructions for their own good that they may not like. Observar como lidamos com as sensações no corpo nos ajuda a perceber como reagimos diante das situações da vida cotidiana. Se imediatamente reajo com aversão a uma sensação intensa que surge nos ombros, colocando uma carga pesada de interpretação na experiência como algo muito desconfortável e ruim, acabo entrando em sofrimento, desejando não estar ali. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Se você prestar atenção no seu dia, vai ver que ele é cheio de experiências em que a mente reativa atua automaticamente nesse sentido, reagindo e rotulando com aversão. Uma ligação inesperada no meio de uma correria, o pedido do almoço que não chega, o congestionamento ou o atraso do ônibus e a iminência de um diálogo desafiador são exemplos de situações em que o julgamento nos leva a um sofrimento que não existia antes da nossa reatividade. O contato com o corpo durante uma prática de Yoga e a observação dos conteúdos mentais durante a meditação também funcionam como um treino para desenvolver uma consciência mais equânime que não é arrastada tão facilmente pelas interpretações, substituindo padrões de reação por um poder de escolha. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Se surge uma sensação mais intensa nas costas, por exemplo, ao invés de contrair meu semblante e abraçar o sofrimento, eu posso me perguntar: “como posso acolher as mudanças no meu corpo e ajudá-lo a mover-se em direção ao bem estar? Será se eu posso até mesmo relaxar um pouco com a sensação física do desconforto? Essa sensação é tão sólida quando eu penso que é?”. Extended Side Angle Pose ( Utthita Parsvakonasana ) -There are different variations, however, this is the elbow on the knee version. 🌝 BENEFITS: Tones the abs. known to improve stamina & build endurance. Good for sciatica. Leg, knee & ankle strengthener. Brings some relief to lower back pain. Helpful if you have constipation or time of the month discomfort. Good for infertility. Relieves tension in the side body. Opens the chest. Stretches your groin, back, spine, waist, ankles, lungs (intercostals) & shoulders. Activates the Root Chakra (Muladhara), Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana), & Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) which can help you feel connected, powerful, & stable while helping one to balance their emotions. 🌜 TIPS: If you have neck issues or pain, do not turn your head upward. Instead, keep your gaze straight ahead with both sides of neck even. Front knee should be stacked over the ankle. Make sure the outer edge (pinky toe side) is grounding down in the back foot. Chest should rotate upwards and top hip rotating outwards. To deepen the pose, elbow that is on the knee can come down with hand on the floor behind the leg- just make sure your shoulder is stacked over the wrist and again if no neck issues turn your gaze up towards the sky. Yoga in the company of elves at our little Devonshire log cabin at the weekend. I had hoped I would be running, climbing, and ashtanga-ing right up until giving birth but my hypermobile SI joint has put a stop to that. I definitely can't run, some days I can't even walk very far. And my yoga practice has had to change a lot. If it's not too cranky, Utthita Parsvakonasana with a shortened stance, is a good strengthener. It improves balance and strengthens legs and the sides of the body, especially the side abdominal muscles on the top arm side. I'm also heeding the advice of my physio and starting swimming this week and I might even have to try an aquanatal class.
