is visiting #NorthKorea
for the first time and #KimJongUn
has greeted him warmly, holding a grandeur car parade along #Pyongyang
streets. The sight of #NorthKorean
women in #hanbok
& men in suits, wanting to look their best, waving flags & flowers cheering reminded my old Ma when she was a young girl. She said she did exactly like that too.
It was 1952, during the #Korean
War, when #POTUS
Eisenhower was in #Korea
for a 3 days visit. So, just imagine, the #USPresident
is coming to Korea! It was a big deal, when Korea was still a war torn, very humble country, that the filthy rich POTUS coming to Korea WAS LIKE the Beatles’ arrival in the US in 1964. It was that big & exciting news! Of course, she & the rest of people were excited about his visit. She was given flags to wave when POTUS & the entourage drive by in the street. So she wore her best clothes, ladies in hanbok, all stood in the sidelines and waved the flags when POTUS drove by.
I just wanted to brag that my Ma saw Eisenhower in person, that’s all😸🐶🐾
