Generally we try to keep this profile positive, but for the sake of our sanity, as well as any of you who might benefit from this info, we’ve decided to share what’s been going on with our RV and the APPALLING service and work we’ve received from @cummins
service centers. Back in May, we brought our RV to Cummins Houston, the “experts”, for a simple thermostat replacement. After taking 8 hours to complete a 3 hour project, Pat noticed during his test drive that the engine was still running very hot. When we told this to the tech, he was told that the temp sending unit was faulty and to ignore it. An hour outside Houston, the motor overheated leading to irreparable damage, leaving us stranded on the side of the road for hours. Turns out, the tech installed the thermostat incorrectly. We packed a small suitcase and our dogs and into our tow vehicle, and continued on to stay with family in Austin, while our home was towed back to Houston. 1 month later, our engine was “fixed” so we headed back. Upon arrival in Houston, we were required to wait an additional 3 days with little info about progress. Finally, on a Friday at 630pm (for any RV travelers, you know how impossibly late this is to try and drive and plan for a new campsite) after WE insisted on a test drive before signing anything, we were informed that the engine blew, again. We demanded that managers were contacted to find a solution. Our quickest option was to wait a second month for a complete new engine to be assembled and installed. Cummins did cover the cost of our hotels at this point, but if you’ve ever tried being in a new place with a blind, lame dog, or needed to keep food refrigerated, or find laundromats for the small amount of clothes you can carry, every other night for months, you will understand how this is less than ideal.
After a total of 69 days we were finally able to step got back into our clean, working, beloved home...or so we thought. We quickly discovered grease stains all over our newly painted and upholstered interior, grease stains all over the carpets (cont. in comments ...yes, there’s more)
