MY TOP 5... FAVORITE BATMAN FILMS/SHOWS - In honor of my new @thedcuniverse
account and my favorite superhero, I thought I'd list my favorite Bat-centric moving pictures!
As you can tell, I love the animated material, having listed the series as well as the Red Hood film. And it was hard narrowing it down to just that. The best things about the series is that the animation is top notch, it stays true to the source material, and it doesn't talk down to the audience so as to go out of its way to make it just a kid's show. The same especially goes for most of the best of @dccomics
' animated Bat films, like Under the Red Hood.
As I've already espoused my feelings on the 1966 Batman, I'll just say that it holds such a dear, special place in my heart, and though whenever I hear Batman in my head I hear Kevin Conroy's voice, the first person I think of is the Mayor of Quahog himself, Adam West.
The Dark Knight makes my list for the same reason it makes most other people's lists I'm sure: it's definitely a beautifully executed film (aside from the unnecessarily rushed Two-Face storyline), but this movie belongs to Heath Ledger. Not only will his turn as The Joker stand forever as THE definitive portrayal of the character, it's also one of cinema’s greatest performances ever.
Until 1989, I had never had another Batman aside from Adam West and the books. Enter Beetlejuice and his boss. Mom took me to see this and I went hog wild with glee. I had Batmania: I got the shirts, the underoos, the VHS, the toys, the games (unfortunately), and so on. Watching it now, I can see the flaws in it, but I still don't care. It's one of those films that takes me back to a time and a place when the world was less cruel, and all you had to worry about was whether the Bat-symbol or Batman himself was going to be worn on your ass today.
