is so dense that this will be pt 2 of a now 5 part post (not 4), continuing "Uncanny X-Men" #141
(January 1981)** written by Chris Claremont & John Byrne, pencils by John Byrne, inks by Terry Austin, colors by Glynis Oliver
[the cover's dated January 1981, but publications tended to be dated 3, sometimes 4, months ahead. This really came out in October 1980, matching Kitty's assertion it's Halloween]
*Look at that gorgeous iconic John Byrne cover. Yes, my personal copy is not in pristine condition, but I love it for its imperfections all the more.
*Picking up where we left off last post, Kitty, excited to make her Danger Room debut, bursts in on an earlier session, and causes chaos, ultimately landing her in Piotr's arms.
*Nightcrawler casually mentions the political unrest that he doesn't know will end the world in less than 48hrs if he doesn't get involved.
*I love the building blocks of Kitty and Kurt's friendship, even when it hurts.
*Kitty aces her first Danger Room session by simply refusing to unphase, and that's the kind of observational humor that kills in the X-Mansion.
*And that's when Rachel Summers successfully sends Kitty's mind back into her younger body. Go Rachel!
*I LOVE this, but Kurt probably loved it more.
*Kitty lays out the future...
*... in grisly detail...
*... and The X-Men must prevent it.
