Quite a common phrase I have heard this week from females is "My upper body is so weak comparatively to my lower body". There is a whole array of reasons why this could be, but quite often it's the frequency in which upper body movements are performed. - For myself just pressing movements alone I often perform 3-4 times a week. This isn't including accessory work like curls and tricep extensions ect or upper body pulling work, which is equally focused, on such as pull ups and rows. Overall there is always quite a bit of volume with varying intensities. - Basically, my point is that females, in general, can recover very quickly from upper body sessions. Wasn't feeling my 100% best in this low bar squat session, which makes me super chuffed that I hit the top weight and reps of my ranges with 3x7 @127.5kg with not too bad execution too 💪💪💪💪 - Followed by 4x4 low bar pauses and worked up to a solid 127.5kg. Great session yesturday considering I have been a bit poorly this week pushing me to miss 2 sessions. But it is always wise to take the time you need to recover to return to full health nice and quickly!! Finally after months of perseverance starting to find my groove again with deadlifts. The shoulder and hip issues I was having was certainly playing havoc with this lift, especially in the last 3 weeks running up to all England's. However, I can finally lift pain free consistently and I am almost lifting with the good form I had previously developed. - Deadlift used to be my strongest lift out of the big 3 (back in the day weighing just 53kg) but due to a multitude of unfortunate events that's certainly not the case right now. Brought the HYPE with me today been working off RPE for this bench session and I had a goal of 10x3 with 40-60s rest @75kg for feet up comp grip.... and I did it!! (Last set shown) - Wednesdays deadlifts also a 10x3 with 40-60s rest @127.5kg (last set shown) also very tough especially in this heat but buzzing I got through it with some decent bar speed 🌞🌞. First time using my SBD belt, which is such an honour to have and I love it as well the incredible sabo deadlifting shoes ❤❤❤ Feeling very fortunate and grateful 😍😍😍 - - As I believe I have mentioned before I am currently in an off season/ rehabilitation phase  really trying to get my body stronger,  moving more efficiently and ironing out some niggles and imbalances. So far, there are certainly ups and downs but overall there is alot of positivity and my head is staying in the game. Something that I know I take into every session and have done for along time is INTENT.  I attack every exercise with maximum intent because I want to get better at what I do every single day. Whether that be max out deadlifts, pelvic tilts, set of 10 on bicep curls or a 60s plank i want commit to performing everything as best as i can. Felt very matchy matchy yesturday in the new limited edition summer range by @sbdapparel !! I love the wrist wraps, these ones are the flexi ones in medium size and worked so perfectly for squats! - ❤❤❤ - Here is a set of 8 @80kg for front squats, first time doing full depth squats since all England's and I think they were quite a success. 💪💪 - Managed to do some pin squats (but forgot to record) 10x2 40s rest @110kg. 💪💪 highlights from this week's training. This off season/ proper rehab phase is going really well and each week I am making incremental progressions on multiple factors. Massive thanks to @adam_uclan_physio and @rhayes_strengthcoach as always being my constant help and support - - Right at parallel box squats, 1 set shown @ 102.5kg for 8. Sleeveless and BELTLESS. I can't believe I can do any variation of squat with out a belt on PAINFREE 😁😁😁😁. Also possibly the best my hip has felt all year!! Been loving experimenting with this exercise; seated over head press, top set of 7 reps with 42.5kg. - Embracing this off season and working on as many weaknesses as I can and fine tuning some technical faults. @rhayes_strengthcoach Giving me freedom to try many new things ❤❤ - Working very hard from a rehab perspective also. RECOVERY WEEK! Spent this week recovering from all England's comp and making sure my body has a proper rest. Doing as much rehab as I can for my shoulder and hip but mostly much needed REST! Here is a snippet from my session on Friday very hamstring dominant and all with my new insoles for my feet so lots of new things. - - The GHD's and good mornings have always been exercises I have struggled to incorporate for multiple reasons; mainly overactive spinal erectors, poor pelvic movement and simply very weak hamstrings!! Hoping to finally incorporate these into training and build up strength in my posterior chain, FINALLY! All England's comp summary; I did exactly what I went there to do! Made weight at 56.8kg, actually ate alot of food to fuel the day (which I normally struggle to do so much on comp day) stayed calm and incontrol of my nerves better than I ever have done and got hyped at the right times! All of this I couldn't be happier with I am so flipping proud of my self. - Ended the day with a Gold medal 🥇, 412.5kg total and a 480wilks 💪💪 Both all time PB's. And enjoyed every second !! - Squat 157.5kg (All time PB) - Bench 92.5kg (All time PB) - Second attempt Deadlift 162.5kg - I didn't take my third deadlift due to a sublaxation of my sternoclavicular joint 3 weeks ago causing lots of shoulder pain when I deadlift, so we new going in to the comp I was only going to take 162.5kg to reduce the risk of a dislocation. - Unfortunatly things havnt been plain sailing with injuries and niggles, which is very rarley is when you are trying to be the best possibly athlete you can be. It's been a very hectic week and very tough week of training, with hard sessions and very stubborn niggles!! My immediate reaction to this set was ahhhhhhhhh frustration because I new i didn't execute it as well as I could. However, pulled it back nice and quick and thought about it objectively and new my stance wasn't wide enough. Silly moo!! Therefore took that lesson, and the rest of my sets moved much better !! - There is always lessons to be learned and progress to me made!! Friday's squats session went really well, hip still isn't perfect and pelvis still not quite corrected but thanks to @adam_uclan_physio as always; it is making great progress !! Avoided high bars for about 2 weeks (ish) to let things settle down in my hip; so to come back and hit these numbers and to have maintained my new technique shows to me the progress I have made in multiple areas and came out of this session extremely happy. Wasn't feeling too hot on my deadlift day this week @black_country_barbell lots of sitting and travelling are certainly not beneficial to lifting!! - However, very happy to have gone in and put my all in and come out feeling positive! People talk alot about mindset and how important it is and I am a huge advocate for this. It's ok to not feeling 100% and a bit sluggish going into the gym, work, college or what ever it might be.
