Did my FIRST running WORKOUT in honestly probably about 5 years today! You all know I’m pretty unconventional with my training—I just race a lot, and otherwise have a rhythm to my week in terms of length of runs and some slight variation of intensity, but besides racing, I’m rarely going faster than a slightly sub-8:00 mile on my *fastest* days. (If I’m ever sub-8, I feel like I deserve a good pat on the back! “Wooo, you TRUCKIN’ along, SELF!” Besides that, I REALLY recover on my recovery runs!) With teaching yoga (and cycle classes) for a living, I’m otherwise working out a lot during the week too!
However, I now have a new running buddy who will run with me after my Tuesday AM yoga class, and she does Tuesday workouts, so hey, let’s give this whole running workout thing a whirl! 9 miles total, probably just shy of 2k at 10k pace, :90 easy, and then I hopped in for the beginning and end of my training partner’s subsequent mile and 1k. Chased that with four hills, and then I was definitely done, and so here I am doing an ice bath/hot bath in the middle of a Tuesday while I email from my phone! (My husband: “what is this, the weekend?”) Excited about having more running company and more workouts to do all fall!
