🍟Stop eating when full. - 🍟This is where I always got into trouble. If I had taken this advice during my teenage years I would have.. no no. I would still be obese. But perhaps I wouldn't have crossed over to morbidly obese territory. - 🍟"Stop eating when you're full." I've actually heard that so many times growing up that it feels a bit cliche. I remember thinking once during my morbidly obese days, "Right, so if I just stop eating when I feel full I'm gonna lose weight? What a joke." - 🍟Funny thing is, for my case I think that's the advice would have stood true. - 🍟A while back I observed how quickly I felt full. To my surprise, it didn't take a lot food for me to start feeling full. It's just I always want to push it to the extreme, and feel that ultimate stuffed feeling that gets me in trouble. - 🍟I'm usually decently satisfied and full off of a normal meal. Say a McDonalds meal, burger, fries and coke. I feel good off of that. Where I get in trouble is when I still go for the nuggets, and the sundae, and maybe double up on the fries cos it's so good with ketchup. - 🍟If I replaced the coke with water, a burger and fries is around 700kcal at best. 3 meals a day that's only 2100kcal. That's around my current TDEE -50kg lighter than before. I'm sure my TDEE was higher during my morbidly obese days. Which would have meant if I stopped at full, and kept it up consistently. There was a good chance I would have just maintained or lost weight. - 🍟"Stop eating when you're full" I feel is a great gauge to get a super rough idea of how much you've ate without any calculations. Good old natural instinct. Sure it's inaccurate, but it's a good warning sign "Hey, you're full buddy. You sure you still gonna go for ice cream?" - 🍟Of course, this would mean you have to be 100% honest. I know I struggle with that. A lot of times I know I'm full, but somehow I'll convince myself 'one more bite' because I'm not REALLY full. It's.. it's really a train wreck. I think I still have the tendency to do that if I"m not careful. - 🍟What CAN"T you stop eating once you start?

🍕"Can you suggest a diet for weight loss?" - 🍕I'm sorry but, I can't. - 🍕I would if I could, but I can’t. - 🍕Alright technically I could. I mean I could tell you to go on some ridiculous water fast, or detox or cleanse. And then convince you that the only way get there is to stick to the game plan for at least 14 days. It’s almost guaranteed results. I think somewhere in between is where I charge you a few bucks for the game plan? - 🍕But the moment you stop the extreme diet and go back to eating normally all the results suddenly disappear. So you’ll come back to me and ask “What happened?” And I’ll be all like, “well, you went for the standard version, here’s a better version that lasts longer” which in the concoction I add a few squeezes of lemon juice and charged you extra for it. - 🍕And that cycle repeats. You yo-yo up and down. And I would have made enough pocket change to eat McDonalds for life. - 🍕In all seriousness, I can’t cos I’d need so much more information about you to even point you at a general direction. The best diet isn’t about the exact amounts of food, nutrients, or calories. - 🍕It’s about figuring out a menu that you enjoy, which would a mean a higher chance that you stick to it, and the longer you can stick to it the better chance at a consistent caloric deficit or surplus depending on your goals. - 🍕It’s about building a relationship with food. Building long term sustainable habits that last a lifetime. It’s not going to happen over night. It’s an ongoing process that could last for years. - 🍕I feel the first step you take is to become more mindful and more aware of food. Be mindful of how much you’re eating, when you’re eating, why you’re eating. - 🍕Be aware of the different values of food. The difference between half a bowl of rice and a whole banana. You don’t need to know all the little details, but be aware of the similarities and differences. - 🍕I believe that in itself, will stir you to make better decisions, which in turn will help you build the best diet for you. - 🍕Which meal do you look forward to the most?

I'm trying to get use to a Whole 30 way of eating before January 1st so the transition isn't as difficult. So 75% of my meals are Whole 30 compliant currently....but I'm still enjoying sugar and a few other things I won't be able to have when I go on the plan 100%. Its the holidays though, I'm being realistic about what I can do. I am loving this breakfast currently....1/3 sweet potato, 1/3 zucchini, 2 eggs, pepper and a little salt. What a difference a year makes!! The pic on the left is post baby no.2 and on the right is just a few weeks ago...10 months of hard work (both physically and mentally). I haven't always stayed on track and my relationship with food still could use some work, but I'm learning about myself and my health and I'm teaching it to my kids. Win-win! I can't wait to see what happens next year!!!
Thyroid Weight Loss Tip:⠀ ⠀ Have you ever noticed that being consistent with your diet is very difficult? You're "all in" for a week or so and then somebody invites you to dinner or a coworker brings in donuts and it's all over from there!⠀ ⠀ With weight loss, consistency is key. In a standard week, you need to be down 3500 kcal to lose 1 pound excess fat. That's, on average, 500 kcal a day! Falling off the bandwagon even as little as twice a week can prevent you from losing ANY weight -- despite being perfect with your diet the rest of the week.⠀ ⠀ Our advice?⠀ ⠀ Give yourself a cheat meal once a week. Save it for a dinner out with your friends or a holiday event. Mark it on your calendar so that you know what day and what meal you are allowed to "cheat" at. By doing this, you consciously plan ahead for meals that you may not be 100% adherent to your diet. The rest of the week you should summon your willpower and stick with it! On cheat meal days, consider walking an extra 1,000 steps or adding 30 more minutes to your workout.⠀ ⠀ Following a diet consistently is important. But the JOY of eating something on the "naughty list" is equally as important! Be happy and allow yourself to cheat once in awhile!
