A weekend walk through #perdanabotanicalgarden
led us to this eerily beautiful #tree
. We’ve never seen anything like this. But somehow this kind of reminded me of baobabs. Is it really a baobab dwarfed maybe by the excessive rain here in Malaysia? We got closer to see the details. Aha! Hang on — why do the #seedpods
and the #flowers
look like #moringa
? Moringa masquerading as a baobab? More closer inspection and a bit of googling. There it is. This is a #MoringaDrouhardii
, a cousin of the common Moringa Oleifera #moringatree
quite literally drought hardened over millions of years on the limestone cliffs of Mahafaly Plateau in Madagscar. Now that is special! Incredibly epic! We are staring at a unique evolutionary marvel that has probably lived the journey of the great baobabs!
for us has always been about observing things. About exploring. About talking, thinking and pondering over little things we see along the way.
There’s always an extraordinarily story. Somedays its about looking at how a beautiful flower charms the bee to get herself polinated. Or to look at the way a carnivorous plant lures and traps an unsuspecting insect. About coming to terms with little horror stories like how an unassuming, ostensibly harmless little strangler ficus that starts its life as a parasite on the trunk of a large tree ultimately overpowers, kills its host and shamelessly stands tall literally in the grave of its host. Its about observing the fauna and flora on the way to build that special connection with #mothernature
herself. And there is happiness in there. Always. Its a very special kind of serenely beautiful happiness that you can only find in #littlethingsinlife
