~ Strength won’t show if you don’t challenge yourself ~
This morning I was feeling really down because of all the adventures I was missing out of. So I changed tracks. With some great help of really good friends I managed to do a little hike. And although it cost me (three)double the time and my muscles in my arms & rightleg are on fire, I also have a smile on my face that won’t come off.
All smiles after being fed (well) with meat pie and haggis 🐹

HALO EFFECT --- "When you look at someone through rose coloured glasses, all of the red flags just look like flags". Wanda from Bojack Horseman
The halo effect is a type of cognitive bias in which our overall impression of a person influences how we feel and think about his or her character. Essentially, your overall impression of a person ("He is nice!") impacts your evaluations of that person's specific traits ("He is also smart!"). It is important to be aware of the halo effect in all relationships.
When you meet a person, if they make a positive impression, the Halo Effect will influence the your perceptions of the other person, possibly blinding you to their deficiencies. Being in our “good books” leads to a tendency to excuse some bad behaviours, overlook mistakes, accept inappropriate actions and justify wrongdoings. Conversely, when someone makes a bad impression, we will seek to justify our first judgment of that person, failing to notice any signs that this person may, indeed, not be as bad as we originally thought or that there may be some good sides to them.
Whatever the bias, it is powerful to think about the health of your relationships, notice feelings of unease or confusion, acknowledge any cognitive dissonance and think about your thinking.

A freezing winter's day and we felt great empathy for these gorgeous sheep being outdoors. It was brutally cold at -12 degrees❄🌨. We bolted back into our rental car with its divine heated seats quickly, as the cold wind was intense. I hoped that their woolly coats would be enough to keep them warm.
Empathy is the experience of understanding another person's thoughts, feelings, and condition from their point of view, rather than from your own. You try to imagine yourself in their place in order to understand what they are feeling or experiencing. Empathy facilitates prosocial (helping) behaviours that come from within, rather than being forced, so that we behave in a more compassionate manner.
Individuals with emotional resilience have well developed empathy levels, and strive to connect and be attuned to different perspectives. The more you are able to empathise with others, the better your communication will be, reducing conflict and misinterpretations. Empathy is the glue of relationships and is an important component when building strong social relationships and friendships. Empathy helps nurture strong social networks, which helps during times of adversity. It is important to foster empathy in children and adolescents, as it is a positive relationship building skill across the lifespan.
