Yesterday was spent showing love and spending time with dear friends. Along the way, some of them asked me to do what I do and share my gift of music. Thank you, Mike Grabman for the snapshot. I'm reminded I'm musician and artist FIRST and foremost. If drag is gone tomorrow, I'll still be that: a musical performance artist. Also, sometimes it's not all about what we get from and for our art but how much we give our art and what it can do for other people. That being said, I landed two more gigs in Augusta and Charleston and will be extending my trip.
My soul needed this trip like a flower needed rain. I needed to be reminded of how much I am loved and appreciated, the good that is in me, and what I'm capable to do with all my gifts. One person closed a door. Another person saw a need for a door and entrusted me to create one. Suddenly, one person became two. Two people became three. Five years later, who knows how many people--who probably would have never been in the same room together--have entered the door to see and appreciate our collective art of drag in Charleston, South Carolina and patronize the businesses and places that showcase it every week, some of which would never have considered having a drag show until they saw the possibilities of success. I may not be as successful right now as I hoped I would be but I was successful at times when no one thought I ever could be.
Never ever let anyone keep you from doing what you feel you were put on this Earth to do because you have the power to change someone's day, someone's week, someone's heart, someone's life, someone's world with what you have to give. When people are touched by your art there is absolutely no greater feeling than that. Don't build walls, build bridges and open the gates widely to get folks to a better place through your gifts.
I thank God for this lesson and this chance to return to Vegas to make the world a little more groovy. Thank you, Columbia and Charleston for reminding me. See you tomorrow in Augusta and Sunday back in Charleston. #iloveyou #columbiasc #charlestonsc #musician #artist #sing #violinista #drag #dragqueen #dragshow #trans #transisbeautiful #gifted #passion #joy
