The Animate Tree spell cast from the scroll.
Another attempt at #lightpainting
for the #inthestyleof_legoschmidt
challenge. This took 70 takes to get right.
This time, I wanted a green light representing nature and life for the animate tree spell so I put a warm white @brickstuff
LED in a round transparent green brick and stuck it on a clear rod. I capped the top with a round transparent green plate to make sure all the light that escaped would be tinted green.
The position of the LED itself matters a lot. If it's facing the camera, then there would be clear, bright streaks in the photo (swipe to the last photo). I didn't want that so I made sure to point the LED away from the lens so I could get a bigger, more muted streaks of green.
I shot this in my micro garden on my dining table at midnight, with a brick-built mountain behind as a background (me feeling guilty for not setting up anything for the previous photo). I had my phone propped up against a napkin holder camera left that was running Pocket Softbox on its dimmest setting and my camera on a tripod. I forgot the exact settings but it was 4 sec at maybe f8-11.
The hardest part was keeping a fluid motion with the LED rod around the tree minifig. I hit that thing so many times (the erratic streaks in the last photo are from unintended collisions). Good thing I had it anchored @tonytulloch_tp
I also originally had leaves on the tree but it was too difficult to rotate around with the LED rod so I removed them.
