Great to be back home, not only to listen to some vinyl but also to dig at New York’s vast selection of record stores. Picked up this 3 Sounds album, a Blue Note release recorded in 1961. Signature straight-ahead jazz from this trio led by Gene Harris’ sublime piano playing, as they tackle some Ellington and Cole Porter among other standards. Worth a listen for a laid-back evening or study session!
The listening session continues. At home with the infamous mancold cleaning out the closet, ironing, ironing and cleaning. Soon we gonna be three in this little apartment. Looking forward to that. In the meantime these fellas keep me company. Nice to pull out that The 3 sounds Lp. Didnt know it was Henry Franklin playing the bass, one of my favorites on that instrument.
Aced my certification and now in total relaxation mode. Decided to pull out this beauty for some soothing night time spins. #LouDonaldson and #TheThreeSounds collaborate on this 1959 #BlueNoteRecords outing to yield some fantastic tunes. Undoubtedly one of my favorites from Lou and possibly the best from the trio // Lou Donaldson with the 3 Sounds - LD+3 // 1959 OG DG Mono
