Before relinquishing hosting duties, I hosted
@steereoofficial ’s podcast, The 99%. One of my most memorable episodes was episode
#5 with
@vitodepierro. There was a bunch of tears and laughs as we took the time to reflect on his journey. Listening to Vito’s story once again reminded me why we do what we do. Our experiences as entrepreneurs are very similar to what artists go through.
We want to be heard. We want our stories to be told. We want respect and recognition for our ideas. There have been times throughout my journey where I’ve been balled up in a fetal position, crying hysterically. Those moments typically happen in the morning as I reflect upon the past few years, and beyond. This episode was a tough one because I know the feeling of telling your story, only to realize you’ve been through a lot. While creating, while fighting for your vision, you often don’t have the time to reflect on the pain involved. In the fight, there’s a lot of joy, but there’s also a lot of pain. The combination of the two can produce great things if you keep going.
I was beyond humbled when Vito asked to use that episode’s intro as the intro to his debut album. Words matters. Sometimes you need to hear positivity from an outside perspective. When you spend so much time in your head, fighting for your vision, you can forget the win lies in the effort.
Vito, you need to know that you’ve already won. If you’re brave enough to fight for your ideas, you’ve already won. Thanks for using my voice to tell your story. Seeing my name in the credits was beyond humbling. I wish you nothing but success; however that’s defined for you.
