This smile says it all on this #MedalMonday
. This race proved that it’s attitude over e’rthing. While the clock may be the focus for some, I found victory in something else at @bmwdallasmarathon
: I never went to the Deep, Dark Place. This is what I call that ugly headspace you visit during the later miles of the marathon...when the distance overwhelms you, your mind’s evil, insecure voice takes over, and you believe it cannot be surmounted. I kept looking for it. I stayed vigilant to fight it, but it never came. This race was all smiles and all confidence. With less training than usual, there was no shortage of hard moments. I dug deep, I kept pushing, and I knew the finish line would arrive in time. What a beautiful day to be alive and running. Thanks for sharing in it with me. What’s next? Something different for a while I think, but you know I’m here for the long run. The goal is big. It will take time...but, just like this medal, I’m going to be okay with earning it in as much time as I need. The hard makes it great, but so does the fun.
