TRANSFORMATION POST 🙏 . I haven’t shared a transformation post but recently I’ve had people asking for the “quick fix” or “secret” when it comes to my training and nutrition plans; here’s the truth: . On the left, this was just before I started college; I was sitting just at 160 lbs. On the right side I am sitting just over 200 lbs and at the end of college. The time difference? Looking to challenge your deltoids? Read below! ⬇️ . 1️⃣ Using a straight bar, sit and pull with your elbows high. Keeping your elbows high as you perform the lateral pull will increase the tension on your posterior deltoid (rear delt) and less on your rhomboids and lower back. Try it! 💪 . 2️⃣ Similar concept to the first exercise. Keeping your spine in a neutral position, you want to perform the pull by driving your elbows up and keeping your elbows away from your side and in front of you. By doing so you relieve the tension from your lats and focus it onto your rear shoulder/posterior deltoid. You may need to drop the weight to perform this correctly, but egos aren’t needed for building muscle! 🤙 . 3️⃣ Barbell overhead presses are my favorite compound exercise for targeting the entire shoulder. Go as heavy as you can while maintaining proper form to ignite those delts! Also, keep your core tight as you do these! 🔥 . 4️⃣ Seated dumbbell press is my go to for working my shoulders/stabilizer muscles. Similar concept to the barbell overhead presses, go as heavy as you can while keeping good form and keep that core tight! 💪 . 5️⃣ Rope face pulls, when performed in a controlled motion and elbows up, are another rear deltoid blasting exercise. Focus on engaging your delts and not your traps - work that mind muscle connection! 💪 . 6️⃣ Lastly, we have to hit our lateral deltoids in order to keep a well rounded look. Don’t let momentum take the exercise from you, keep it slow and controlled on the concentric AND eccentric portions. Make it burn and make it count 🔥 . Hot damn I’m awkward with these straps, but keep reading to learn about my training for today ⬇️ . 1️⃣ Pyramid Deadlifts - these are great for challenging and building strength for your legs and back. I performed a warmup set to get the joints ready, then moved on to 225 lbs for 5 sets of 5 reps, then 315 lbs for 5 sets of 5 reps, and finally 405 lbs for 5 sets of 2 reps. Haven’t done these in a while so I felt each rep I squeezed 🔥 . 2️⃣ Seated Barbell Shrugs - I’ve talked about my traps being a weak point for me, so I decided to torch them with this. The 🔑 to these are having the bar behind your legs, keeping your shoulder blades retracted, and squeezing through your traps for the shrug movement... YOUR HANDS ARE ONLY HOOKS! 🔥 . 3️⃣ Incline Dumbbell Shrugs - these are great for finishing a workout because when done properly you can feel your traps and rear delts stretching and squeezing each rep. Keep the weight low enough to control it but high enough to challenge your traps. Mental focus and following the direction of the muscle’s FIBERS with each rep is important. 🔥 . This muscle is located in the anterior compartment of the arm along with the Biceps brachii and coracobrachialis.💥 . In order to isolate the brachialis muscle the forearm needs to be in pronation, due to the biceps brachii's function as a supinator and flexor. By pronating the forearm the biceps is put into a mechanical disadvantage, which is what we want if we are to target the brachialis.💪 . I’ve always been an ambitious person, putting effort into multiple things at once and being so precise in my execution that I get tunnel vision to everything else going on. It’s both good and bad. It can be chaotic if you aren’t careful.⚡️ . It’s good to take a step back every once in a while, write all of your ideas down on the same sheet and evaluate what is and isn’t important and time worthy. You could surprise yourself at how some of your endeavors you once thought were worth your time really aren’t helping your master plan anymore. ✍️ . You have to fight for change, period. ⚔️ This post comes from the heart and gives you a glimpse of who I am and why I do what I do... —————————————— Growing up I was the scrawny kid who was constantly picked on because I played tennis instead of football in middle and high school. The kid who would get punched in the mouth walking around a corner to go to my moms car to get picked up from school, or threatened to get beat up because I wasn’t a “cool kid” and didn’t lift weights... I couldn’t do much to defend myself because those kids were stronger than me, plain and simple. —————————————— Sophomore year of high school rolled around and I finally joined football thanks to @saintwilliams216 but not for anyone else, for me, because I wanted to. I started lifting and got good at the game. I still wasn’t big but at least at this point I could stand up for myself and others going through the same shit I did. —————————————— From there I fell in love with the weights, the iron. Something about throwing around the weights and challenging myself made me feel as if I could take on the world.
