Investigating a shipwreck during game tonight. Turned out the strange patches of green were the highest ridges on the back of a Zaratan (500 ft diameter turtle/island hybrid). Homework for next week: determining what kind of psychological impact seeing the Zaratan had on our character. Tonight I was playing my cartographer, so I think they will design a turtle themed compass rose to use on all of their maps going forward.
