Final Thoughts: The three year anniversary of The Life Of Pablo is here! This is easily one of Kanye’s most unique projects for mainly the rollout of the release for this album. It was originally put out in February of 2016, but over the course of that year Kanye continued to adjust and add to the project. From fixing songs like “Wolves” to adding songs like “Saint Pablo,” it was an interesting release to say the least. The final version of the album is definitely worth it though, the mixing and the songs themselves have all be finalized to perfection. The album features a lot of different tones from themes of religion and family, to one’s about fame and fear. The album kicks off with “Ultralight Beam” easily one of my favorite Kanye songs period. The gospel influence of the song is fantastic, Kanye and Chance The Rapper’s performances are downright beautiful and full of passion. The emotion they convey is heartfelt, and is a good tone setter for the album. After this cut is, “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” where we get one of the best beat drops I’ve heard this decade. From the singing at the start, to the Metro Boomin tag, and finally Kid Cudi’s hook is all great! But, um, then Kanye comes in with this awkward auto tune singing, then we get the line about “fucking a model who bleached her asshole, and getting bleach on his tee shirt. MARKET: Surreal Dreams of the “Black Renaissance” | ⭐️ Watch the full 📺 on DailyPlinth.com ⭐️ | Frieze Los Angeles got off to a roaring – if a bit damp – start on Thursday, serving as the anchor of large slate of events and exhibitions throughout the city. Surely one of the buzziest openings was for ‘Dreamweavers,’ the latest exhibition mounted by curator, consultant, and producer Nicola Vassell, now on view at the UTA Artists Space in Beverly Hills. Presented as something of a follow-up to her knock-out exhibition ‘Black Eye’ in New York in 2014, ‘Dreamweavers’ revisits over 20 artists of what Vassell terms the “black renaissance.” With support and inspiration from hip-hop impresario and devoted collector Kasseem “Swizz Beatz” Dean, in this new exhibition, Vassell brings together black artists as diverse as Charles White, Arthur Jafa, and Nick Cave (and nearly two dozen more) to explore how these artists use elements of surrealism or dream-like states to contend with a post-Obama, Trump-era reality.⠀
⠀
To set the mood for the exhibition, Vassell in partnership with Lyft, commissioned this gorgeous, surreal short film by acclaimed directors Sing J. Lee and Sylvia Zakhary.⠀
