So, this @brckhmptn
album... Brockhampton did everything they’ve been doing for a while, and that has its positives and negatives. If this was the first album they ever released I would’ve been very impressed, but I feel like they didn’t take many risks and they played this very safe because I’ve heard other albums they’ve put out. But by no means is this a BAD album, I actually enjoyed a lot of the tracks on here. They continued to show off their versatility on their flows, lyrics, and even production. One of my favorite tracks is “BERLIN”. The beat on this song was impeccable. I’m not sure if they sampled “SICKO MODE” by @travisscott
or if they just used a similar drum kit for this track but the on-going drum sound combined with the flows every member delivers on this track make it an experience. They also experiment a little bit with auto-tune on this track, which was actually surprisingly good. Some other tracks I liked were “WEIGHT” “DISTRICT” and “SOMETHING ABOUT HIM”. I liked these for miscellaneous reasons such as the subject matter, flows, production, or just all of them combined. One track that I didn’t enjoy was the intro track “NEW ORLEANS”. Brockhampton delivered their usual and they didn’t disappoint individually, but the beat on this song was just a little annoying to me. The underlying sample they had just got too much after a while and it was the only thing I could pay attention to on the track. Overall I would say that I enjoyed this album and I will be listening to some of these songs for a while, but I don’t think the album did much for the groups reputation. Didn’t hurt their reputation but it didn’t make me say “wow”. What did you guys think?
