I am finally posting a book review. I know I have been distant lately but you can find the full review of this book on my blog.
Bus 59 and a Half
Bus 59 and Half was a book that I stumbled on through another indie author on instagram. I was interested in reading more independent author novels and I found a few. This young adult psychological thriller takes you on a journey through the intertwining of a variety of characters. We watch each character play it’s own part in the story and mingle with other characters. The plot was definitely a twist no one will see coming but it was an interesting surprise. This novel is short but thrilling, so be prepared to finish it in one sitting.

With Lett dead, Catherine has hoped to establish a new normal.
The relative peace she has found with Mitchell is interrupted one night by a knock on the door, the appearance of Colt Springfield, and the news that the man who raised her has died. Although they are told it was a natural death, they don’t believe it and go to investigate.
When they arrive in the town where she and the brothers spent most of their childhood, they expect to speak to the authorities and arrange a funeral.
What they don’t expect is for a familiar face to show up at a crimes scene, and drag them into a race for answers, while he taunts them with their loss and with Catherine’s past.
The game has been resumed, but by who, and why?

Shadow Of The Bat: What's A Girl To Do? is a vignette I wrote to showcase two things: 1) the experience of the common Gothamite and 2) a cameo for Harley Quinn.
Through a normal citizen dealing with normal things, I wanted to illustrate the danger of living in Gotham. In writing, I envisioned the atmospheres of South Bronx in the late 70s, and Newark, Washington DC, and South Central LA in the 80s & 90s and married them with the political climate of a city like Mogadishu to create the main character's experience. I wanted the reader to see Gotham not as Batman - a man who experienced tragic loss as a boy but has unlimited resources to aid him in correcting problems - but rather a normal citizen just trying to make a living.
In Harley, I wanted to get away from the scantily dressed sex-kitten and pursue an image of a truly disturbed, abused woman who looked more meth-addict than centerfold. I imagined that, as a doctor of psychiatry, she was not only manipulated by the Joker but also heavily drugged and controlled; I wanted to demonstrate that in the writing if only briefly. And, I envision Harley as an otherwise sweet and docile lady who, out of nowhere, becomes violent and murderous to receive validation for the Clown Prince of Crime before becoming sweet and docile again.
The story is short and not my best work, but it was a great part of my writing journey.

Guys, I realize you are pissed and the Baltimore community wants action now. Remember who the police are in your community. When have they ever sought the TRUTH? They have only ever sought CONVICTIONS and have never cared how they got it!
I do not believe this kid, Tyrone Harvin, did this crime. You must look below the surface.
1. An old woman, Dorothy Mae Neal, seeks the kindness of neighbors to assist her with getting through her daily routine.
2. This 14 year old kid helps her by taking out trash and things and most likely spending time talking to her.
3. He goes to her house like normal. He doesn't realize that he is about to walk into a crime scene. He is most likely the first person to come across this. He see the house open, walks in and finds this woman dead.
4. He sees condom packs on the floor and picks them up, leaving prints. He gets scared and leave, not telling anyone what he saw.
5. He is arrested based on police questioning neighbors on the routine and the finger print evidence.
What 14 year old black kid you know would have the foresight to kill a woman and then use a condom to have sex with her, collect up the evidence, but leave a condom wrapper as evidence behind? Guys, this does not add up.
Charged as an adult, denied bail which means he can not talk to anyone. He can't see his mom or sister.
I want to talk to him and tell him that his family miss him; his friends miss playing with him in the yard, they miss his laughter.
I want to talk to Ms. Neal's family and ask them to be patient and wait for the truth. Try not to take the first thing the police tell them. Look in the neighborhood and talk to people. See how the mood is and if they see the holes in this case.
I do not believe he did it.

Nora is a Cuban American teenager in her senior year of high school in Queens in 1977, during the rise of the serial killer, Son of Sam. She lives with her mother and brother in a tenant apartment building. Nora must work to help support her family and she then meets a Colombian boy, Pablo, at her job. She’s nervous to hang out with him alone, because the serial killer is after young women with long black hair that are with their boyfriends. However, they both love Donna Summer and disco 🕺🏽, but is that enough? There is also a fire in her building and Nora is suspicious of her own brother! Overall, Nora is navigating her senior year of high school through all of these trials and tribulations!
I am totally biased to liking this book because it is so similar to my own mother’s youth! She was a senior in high school in 1977 in NYC and was also terrified of the Son of Sam killer- so much so that her sister would come dressed crazily with their German Shepard to avoid his M.O. My mom also LOVES disco and Donna Summer - it’s even crazier because Nora and her family live in apartment 4E- the same one my mom was living in at the time!! Regardless, it was really interesting for me to read a YA book that took place during my mom’s youth - it has sparked some very interesting text and FaceTime conversations ❤️. This book feels like a social justice book, a mystery and a romance novel all wrapped into one! Totally recommend as is a great addition to a #LatinxHeritageMonth

Serei direta: assistam Buscando...!

Just finished @leebermejoart
book one of Batman the Damned. As expected this did not disappoint. Bermejo has evolved into one fo my favorite Batman artists. His use of color and lighting is that of a modern renaissance painter, creating words and sounds through his gestures and use of color.
Joker is pronounced dead with no leads of course Lol The new DC Black label has lots of potential for expansion. Reading this book is the closest this will get to a suspense thriller inter weaving mystery and scenes of horror.
I have always loved his version of the Bat Suit and Cowl. I might even call it my favorite. It’s has elements of a Medieval Knight’s armor in marriage with tactical elements. Perfect for that of Batman with a good sense of mobility. I recommend this book even for non Batman fans! The price is undersold for the beautiful art you are seeing. It is more a of visual piece with a side narrative by John Constantine. Can’t wait to read it again! BLVME
