How often does a piece of content drop into your feed on Instagram LinkedIn or Twitter?
Well, if you are on here probably quite a lot.
Every day we are privileged enough to be exposed to limitless amounts of content that can help us along our journey.
Thankfully enough people on here actually take the time to create it, produce it, pump it out & promote other people who do that same thing - consistently.
They get huge engagement, lots of interactions and build credibility with their network & peers. It’s called ‘earning trust’. Problem is, you think telling everyone about your product/service, latest award win for the fastest boiling kettle is content.
Guys, people know it’s just a self serving advert. It’s the equivalent of the ‘Golf Sale’ sign guy on the street who everyone just walks past.
Even when/if you get a comment on the feed you can’t even be bothered to acknowledge or reply?
Guess what, your team see you doing this so they follow suit.
Selling socially is about being front of mind way before a prospect has even decided to contact you.

Some years ago, I was invited to talk to a number of U.K. & European boards about something that was going to change the way traditional businesses operated.
It was something new called eCommerce.
Most listened, the majority told me that doing that would cannibalise their business.
I said maybe they were spelling it wrong - it’s spelt RETENTION & being customer focused.
Oddly enough I seem to be getting the same response when we talk about ‘Social Selling’. I hear “we have a social media agency who do this for us” - What??? I’ll say it again, 57% of your potential customers have already researched a product or service before they even connect with you, if your lucky.
Think about it!!! This isn’t about posting pictures of how you have the best product (everyone has the best product BTW) it isn’t about your funny videos, award wins, or how groovy the pool table is in your funky millennial office & Malcolm from IT’s tie.
It’s already having a huge impact on your business TODAY and you don’t even know it.

I was having a discussion today with someone about building a personal brand & how it relates to business.
To a certain extent we have all been defining our personal brand since we arrived on the planet.
Q) What on earth has a personal brand got to do with my business?
A) Everything and more in today’s socially connected world.
Your personal brand & that of your business are of course different - but, your social footprint says lots about both of you - who you are, what motivates you and hopefully ‘why’ you do what you do.
Your digital & social footprint reflect how others perceive who you both are - fact!
Thing is, most of the time they are completely out of sync. Especially with leadership teams.
Remember 57% of prospects have already done their research long before they connect with you.
If you don’t manage how potential clients, perceive your business they will make up their own mind, and if your competitor does a better job at that than you, chances are you won’t even be in the conversation, let alone the sale.

Last week - determined my value proposition, 95% settled on label wording and finalized THEE recipe. (THANK YOU to all my lovelies that gave such great feedback!) And I accidentally stumbled upon two other candy concotions to add to the line. Oof! Saving those in my "for later" idea box. Let's see if we sink or swim on this one!
